Dr. Chambers gives a lot of homework, this is a class for the English major, so it is meant to be challenging. There is A LOT of reading, but that expected from a literature class. She wants her students to succeed. She was very caring

Never in my life have I met a more idiotic professor. All she does is say uh uh uh majority of class. Im not paying you to say uh Im paying you to teach me and not give out pop quizzes on unfair question about what the character ate at 12:34pm in the reading assigned to us. Also losing papers? Hope you get fired Dianne :)

This class has many pop quizzes with questions irrelevant to the actual content of the readings. It is very tough to get a strong grade on the papers, even if you go to her or tutors for help. She places a high premium on attendance and class participation.

Dr. Chambers is a tough grader & does not upload grades on Blackboard until days before the final. You use both textbooks & are expected to bring them everyday to class. She tends to talk the whole time & says "uh" a lot. She is flexible when it comes to changing the deadline for assignments. Lots of reading and quizzes. I would not recommend.

This professor makes everything so complicated for no reason. The tests and quizzes are also made up of unfair, specific questions that don't have anything to do with the "big picture" that she supposedly wants us to walk away with. Overall, avoid her if you can.

Dr. Chambers is a good professor but an exceptionally tough grader. After going to the learning center and being helped by a tutor I still only received a C on my one essay. As people mentioned, there's a lot of reading but it's a fiction class.. so that's obvious. But she waits until after Spring Break for us to read the 3 assigned books.

If you're an English major then go right ahead and take the class. It does become somewhat disorganized, but the topics you go over are interesting and so recommend. Otherwise, if this is not part of your major then DO NOT take the class. Quizzes and tests were incredibly specific and she is a TOUGH grader. No extra credit. A lot of books to get

Honestly, do not take this class if you work full time and are a student full time. This class killed me because of the inhumane, abundance of reading. I even argued why our quiz is timed for no reason. We don't even know what grade we have b/c she doesn't update our grades from ANYTHING. Says "uh" A LOT. Do not recommend.

Dr. Chambers treats you like a child again. Lectures all the time that just wastes time. Assigns an inane amount of reading, and her pop quizzes are insanely specific, so even if you do read, you might not pass the quiz. She is not accessible outside of class so don't bother emailing her and expecting an answer. I do not recommend her.

You're going to read A LOT. Very time consuming class and must be a good reader and participate in class discussions. Final and midterm are all written, terminology, application to basic English terms to the stories you read and you write 2 in class essays. Make her know who you are but she still does not play favorites.

Doesn't have respect for your time. She gives you way too many books to read and papers to write. The problem isn't the difficulty, but the time consumed by her class and the homework she gives. If you are just doing English and nothing else and you love reading bad literature. This is your class. If you have other things to do it's a bad class.

By no means is this a show-up and get an A class. There is a ton of reading but most of it can be found on SparkNotes and provides you enough information to be of use during discussions. She expects you to be in class and is very unforgiving to those who use skipping class as an excuse not to turn something in. Good teacher but be prepared to work

Fun class, great discussions, and this class really made me think differently about a lot of topics I was never exposed to previously. Dr. Chambers is not easy by any means, but if you put the work in you will do well. She loves the class discussions so make sure you are prepared for talks and rhetorical arguments.

I was in my capstone course and did more work in this class. Also got a worse grade. TONS of work and you have no chance to ever see how you're doing until you get your final grade. Got all As this semester and a B+ in this. Why? Idk. Did well on the biggest assignment I got back and the final grade doesn't show that :

Intelligent, thought-provoking, and interesting lectures that encourage individual reflection as well as classroom interaction. A fair grader with reasonable expectations. If you make the effort, you'll be rewarded with a terrific classroom experience and a grade that reflects your contributions.

I have taken 2 classes with her. I love her as an instructor. The discussions are interesting, but you have to do your work. It is a great deal of reading, but worthwhile. She really pushes you. I would take more classes with her.

Class is very hard, meant for English majors. Lots of reading. If you talk every class and read most of the stuff. Actual study for the final and mid term. You will do okay. She is not in a rush to return graded assignments back so hard to know your grade. Nice person and knows subject well. Only take if you want a challenge.

Knowing that I was missing classes because my grandma was dying, she didn't see me half way on anything. I tried to make up the work, but she deliberately wouldn't let me catch up. When I showed up for the final, she said "Don't even bother. You've already failed." So I had to go back into the classroom, pick up my stuff, and walk out...
