Took his maymester class, which I recommend. He cares about your grade and helping you understand the material. The material is hard information and the tests aren't easy. He gives you the option of a cheat sheet on the test for some percent off. He's really not a bad teacher at all. Write down everything he puts on the board.

Easily the rudest professor I have ever had and does not care about his students at all. He would go on the most ridiculous tangents. Doesn't let you use calculators and makes you write out excel spreadsheets on the tests, so needless to say, you have to study directly to the test. Wish I had learned more in 312 to help me in later classes.

Go to class and write everything he puts on the board and you'll do fine. Nothing is on the exam that isn't on the board. Yes there's a lot to memorize but the class is manageable.

I would stay away from Harris. Class isn't impossible but it's pretty hard. He doesn't give you any help outside lecture and his tests are based on lecture instead of the book.

His class isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. He does cover the entire book but writes EVERYTHING that you need to know for the test on the board and TELLS YOU what will be on it. You also get a cheat sheet front/back but its an automatic minus 20 points but he curves his exams a lot so you could still make out with a B on the exam.

By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Made this class extremely difficult to pass. He doesnt use anything from the book and his lectures consist solely of him writing on the chalkboard with minimum explanation of what we were expected to learn from the notes. Almost every single day he went on tangents sometimes completely irrelevant and useles

He goes on tangents a lot but if you take notes in class and study the notes the tests aren't very difficult. He doesn't like the textbook so it's not required to read but he suggests it. The tests are what he says in class not specifically from the textbook

It's a hard class to take, you will learn a TON and it's useful knowledge. If you do what Professor Harris suggests in terms of studying, you'll do well in the class. The curve will save the bad students, even though it doesn't really help the good students. Most useful class I've taken.

Honestly, I dont know what all this negativity is about. U won't learn anything that's for damn sure, but the class is SO SO easy to make a B. And if you can't then either 1) you can't memorize or 2) GTFO of this major. It is a minimal effort class and yes he gives an attendance score based upon your exam avg but hes really entertaining.ITS SO EASY

What a clown!!First day of class: "I don't care if you are disabled. That's not my problem. It's not my job to care about the students." You can't go to office hours unless you ask your question in lecture. He distributes grades to fit "his" distribution; no more than 15% of the class is allowed to make an A. He thinks he is God's gift of finance.

Very unhelpful out of class. Immediately gets defensive when challenged or questioned to the point where Dr. Harris becomes irrational. Example, simple question on exam(worth 2 points), I challenge it,Dr. Harris immediately gets defensive, insults my intelligence, and DEDUCTS additional points from the exam just for challenging. Covers entire book.

Honestly, any negative comments towards this professor are deserved. His tests are all about what he says in class, and if you don't understand he won't answer questions either in class or outside of class. I have never had a teacher so unwilling to help. He tells students they shouldn't graduate and that they are buttheads. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy really annoyed me. I have NEVER had a teacher tell me that I cannot ask a question out of class. He will not even allow students to come to his office to ask questions unless they first ask the question in class. His handwriting is horrible, and he thinks he knows more than the book. He also goes off on weird rants a lot.

This guy is the worst professor I have encountered. AVOID AVOID AVOID. He doesn't want you to learn anything in his class, he just wants you to "play his game." He likes to remind the class that he is the only one who has ever received a million dollar grant. He barely uses the book and trys to make you feel stupid. Avoid this man at all cost!

HORRIBLE. "Whole book Harris" is an arrogant jerk. He goes off on tangents, rants about how we don't need calculators, and writes all over the board with no organization in his 2nd grader handwriting. Makes the class way too hard even if you do go to class and take notes. He will make you feel like an idiot if you ask for help. RUN FAR AWAY!

john "whole book" harris is horrible! he's completely ridiculous and goes off on tangents about how nazis are going to take over the world but the things we learn in his class will help us survive an attack. extremely egotistical and rude. you have to be invited to his office to get him to answer specific questions. avoid him at all costs!

i feel like he is very condescending. he thinks he knows everything about finance. and that everyone else is just dumb as ever. and he is the only professor covering the ENTIRE BOOK in one semester. if i could get out of this class i would. he's not worth leaving class angry everyday.
