Comment:
Dr. Hornak starts off the semester with false hope - he spends multiple lectures talking about learning and asking how he can better convey information to the class. After roughly two weeks of this, he starts into his lectures like he always has. The class is a lot of memorization versus simple understanding and has very few assignments.

Class just a pre-req that I didn't really care much about. Not terribly difficult... pay attention and you'll be fine. Hornak is very accessible outside of class. He lectures clearly (most of the time), and he is patient during office hours. Before the final, he was busy with his lab stuff but he made space and helped me anyway. Good guy overall.

Here is an alum of Chemistry at RIT with some advice. This could be the most important class you take in your chemistry curriculum. Looking back, I wish I had appreciated its significance. Take it from me, go to class, pay attention, and read the book (I still reference this text so don't sell it).

This professor knows his stuff and if you have any interest in the subject you will get the most bang for your buck if you actively participate in class. I recommend asking for specific examples or applications---it gets them talking about stuff that they are interested in. Either way you will have to read though the headouts & online books which have many examples of solved problems.

He's a really cool, friendly guy and goes over the material very clearly, it's just a little boring so it's hard to stay awake and pay attention sometimes. Bring coffee and get a lot of sleep and you'll enjoy the class. Tests are good and practice quizzes are optional but help so much, a lot of the samesimilar questions appear on the tests.

Bring coffee to class he is rather monotone but he knows his stuff better than anyone. If you are interested in the course he is the best to take. if he can't answer your question he will research it for you until he can. Sometimes he explains things over students' heads but he can tell when he loses people and tries again with a different approach

He is really nice as a person but far too smart to relate to students who aren't advanced. The quizzes are mostly online and they are extremely hard even after reading the notes and book, and the final is worth half of the grade which makes this class suck more. Get out if its not a requirement.

One of the best professors I've had. He is by far one of the nicest there and is always very welcoming when you have any questions. His quizzes are fair, and the final was in the exact same format.

Very boring teacher. He WILL put you to sleep if you didn't have enough sleep the night before! Quizzes are online and the final is ridiculous.
