I have had him both in-person and online, and I did not like either class. I love math, but he goes on long unrelated tangents during lectures, has unclear assignment due dates, and gives exams with material that we have not gone over. I know he is smart and understands the material well, but he is not the best at communicating that.

Professor McCooey's lectures are very interesting. Although sometimes he spends a long time on a few proofs. His grading criteria becomes a little bit weird during the pandemic though...

Does not give leeway for improvement and has clearly grown callous to providing opportunities for students that are struggling to improve rather than simply providing mediocre lessons geared towards students that had already learned the material in high school.

Four years after he graced me with his presence, the sweet memory of McCooey's teachings is the foundation upon which I built my future. Although McCooey and I will part ways very soon, I know the honor and righteousness McCooey exudes will continue to manifest itself in my life. I plan to make a pilgrimage to F&M in honor of McCooey.

Very, very nice guy! he means well and really wants you to do well. He is not the best at explaining harder concepts and lectures can get boring, but read, do the hw, pay attention, and you will be fine with him. Tests are not unreasonable, and he gives easy quizzes often for almost free points.

Prof. McCooey is very clear on which topics will be tested on quizzes and tests. Work hard and you will do great. I am personally not a math person, but this class is a fair game as long as you do your work and put your effort. Start strong and finish strong. Motivation and work ethic - very importante!

Dr. McCooey is a nice man with an effective teaching style. He builds mathematics from the ground up and really emphasizes the fundamentals so that you can apply them to higher level mathematics. Sometimes he'll draw out a long proof, but he mostly tests you on the fundamentals to ensure that you know them. You leave the course understanding math.

The ratings for McCooey seem a little harsh. McCooey's classes are never too hard. He frequently gives quizzes, but they are simple and meant to make sure the students are on track for success. There is homework every night, but that is just how math class works. A real kind, caring, funny guy

Worst professor I've had at Franklin and Marshall. He is not accessible outside of class and a ridiculously hard grader. He is not good at explaining difficult problems and teaches mainly through philosophical concepts.

The golden God of F&M, McCooey is the most knowledgeable man I have ever met. I would take every class ever with him. He is a genius and the light of my life. I pray to McCooey every night. I whisper his name to the wind. Perhaps he will answer my calls.

Lectures are long and difficult to stay awake through, but you learn so much that even though attendance isn't required, you're going to want to go. He's a nice guy, but can be kind of condescending when you go to his office hours/email him for help.

Not the most clear lectures, but decent. He likes to elaborately explain the origins of concepts, which can be confusing, unnecessary, and pretty dull. Tests and quizzes were definitely manageable, even if you didn't completely understand what was going on. The final was pretty tough, though.

He is a bit boring in class, but if you able to concentrate, they will be very helpful. The exams and quizzes are all based on what is taught in class. His questions are straight-forward and easy if you understand what he taught in class.

He basically tells you what is on his quizzes and uses problems that are similar to the homework. He's an awkward person, but has a quiet sense of humor and definitely cares about what he is doing.

He knows math and teaches it in the way it should be taught. I guess that's the reason why science/econ students here are complaining. From a math major's perspective, I personally enjoyed his class a lot. I seriously think the school should have separate calc and linear algebra sections to satisfy different needs from math and non-math students.

Prof. McCooey is an extremely intelligent man. His quizzes and tests are fair, but he sometimes loses the class in a long proof. Typing HW assignments is cumbersome.
