Treats this class like an upper level. His grading scale is off. All the grade are binder checks and papers. You are required to type four rough drafts and a final five times in the semester. i got a zero on all of mine and failed the 2 quizzes and came out with a B. Also pulled an all nighter every time we had a binder due. interesting prof though

Excellent professor. Extremely knowledgable about the material & willing to help at all times. There is quite a bit of work required but god forbid a college student read & write a little. Go to class with an open mind & you will learn a lot more than just English literature. I've taken 3 courses w/him now & definitely recommend him.

You're required to have a binder with certain thing in it,that's almost impoossible to make a good grade on. He's not clear in what he wants from you. Class is extremely boring and half the time you won't realize what it going on. He tries to reteach you thing like how to write an essay, and if you don't do it the way he wants you will NOT pass.

Do not under any circumstances take this professor. He is intelligent (or likes to come across that way) but that does not make him a good teacher. He expects you to know what he wants without explaining what he wants. I should aid that I have a 4.0 GPA and am an English major, and I believe his so-called "methods" are causing my grades to suffer.

Worst professor I've had. Just because he is intelligent doesn't make him a good professor. He needs to focus on his career as a "writer" and allow students to get a quality education. Doesn't go over the works assigned much at all, consistently late to class, unhelpful, and egotistical.

Required us to create 4 500-word blog posts and announce them via Twitter. 38-42 source (in addition the the many novels) annotated bibliography. 1600-2000k final paper. Barely mentions texts. Knowledgeable, but full of himself. I didn't enroll to make a blog and tweet and spend half of my time learning from my group members. Avoid if you can.

He was the most engaging professor I have ever had. Expect to recieve a ton of useful information, learn how to think at a higher level, and become a better writer. The books he uses are fantastic and ones you will read again. The environment of the classroom is fun and full of laughter. Take him if you want to be challenged.

I have taken Dr. Muyumba twice and each time have found him to be an amazing professor. He expects his students to be prepared and to know how to string sentences together and make their papers relevant to class study. He is always willing to help and up for a discussion anytime. For students who care, he is an excellent teacher.

An impossible teacher. He is not clear on what he expects. Just when you think that you did "A" quality work, his grade says otherwise. He does not give helpful feedback, so you will not know how to improve. I would not recommend this teacher.

This was a 3wk course so we did blogs (completion) and most of our grade came from participation. You must be active for an A! I was disappointed, we read two collections by two authors. Might as well have read two novels. Learned nothing about "the short story", only these two writers. Can be unclear but he was easy on us b/c it was maymester.

A lot of people don't like him because he expects a lot from his students. I found this refreshing. He treated us like people who actually wanted to learn and analyze literature in an academic setting, he is extremely intelligent and involves us in serious discussion. I would take him again.

It's a 3000-level English course. We were expected to be able to read and write. I'm not even an English major, and I had no problem with this class. This was one of 5 classes that I took this semester so reading meant skimming sometimes. Here's a clue: If you're having problems with your essays, go to the writing lab. Quit wasting my class time.

Muyumba is hard. He doesn't understand the fact that NOT EVERYONE is into literature and only takes this class as a requirement. He is AN EXTREMELY HARD GRADER and does NOT give As. ALSO, he expectes you to buy 15 books and read one per week. This class is an overload...don't take it unless you're serious and like a challenge.

Don't be afraid of this professor. I signed up for his class because I needed something to fulfill a particular credit and it fit my schedule. His expectations are not out-of-whack for a 3000-level course. You just need to be able to write a supported response to the literature you're reading. It's no big deal.

I had this guy when he first started out at UNT. the other posts i read pretty much speak the truth. he's a tough grader and is hard to read on what his expectations are. he's a smart guy, but he knows it. once as an example of what qualified as A work, he gave us something he wrote and published. gee thanks, walt.

Muyumba is extraordinarily interesting as a lecturer. His expectations are very high, and even the most secure and eloquent writers will need due diligence and effort to make an A. DON'T Listen to some of the naysayers who think he is pompous. He is anything but prideful in his presentation of literature. Also, he brings music in to listen.

Loves the sound of his own voice, but doesn't seem to care about actually TEACHING. Nothing can be learned from his classes, though attendence is required. He rambles about how smart he is, mocks his students for not being at his level, then fails everybody's papers. Only take Muyumba if you want to lower your GPA, because that's just what he'll do
