Such an interesting class. All lectures are clear and relatively quick. She lays out the class so that if you wanted to get ahead you could. It was pretty open-ended free response questions and there was a group project, but it was relatively easy. Fun class with a great professor. Highly recommend this class!

Professor Elwood was very nice and funny! She gave us one assignment a week due by ever Sunday. Was very easy and straight forward. Read the assigned readings and you will do great. No exams , just two short papers and a page a week for a reading response !

Shes a very hard grader. She was actually quite mean about the things I genuinely thought I wrote correctly. You miss one thing and she takes off a whole letter grade. Her readings as opposed to what she wants you to write about is very confusing. Theres light work but its just not a fun class

Professor Elwood's class was fun to take. There were no tests and she was a little strict on some of her guidelines for all the reading responses but overall she was mostly forgiving in her grading. I really liked the fact I never took a single quiz or test, since writing is my strong point. Highly recommend if you feel the same!

Prof. Elwood is one of the best teachers I have had at CSUSM. Her readings and videos were interesting and there are no tests! The weekly reading responses can get old after a while but she seemed to be a very lenient grader. There was one group project but it was super easy. Two essays but she allows you to be creative with them. Take her!

Shes an alright professor. Not much engagement from her other than her grading your weekly responses. If you do your work youll get a good grade. Sometimes her responses to papers seem rude.

Just do the reading responses and forums every week and youll get an A or at least a B. Papers are a bit tough but other than that the class is easyish. Gives lots of helpful feedback too. Definitely recommend taking!

This class, although very straightforward and easy, is filled with busy work. 1+ pages of writing per week on readings that are very long. She grades tought on grammar which can be a pain when trying to find people to proof read your work every week. Easy class to get an A in if you keep up with work load and have exta time on your hands.

i took her for the online course and it was a solid. there's no midterm or final but it's two (700 words) papers instead. the online course consists of weekly reading responses and a forum with other students. i liked this better rather than driving to campus to attend a lecture. her class content is really interesting.

I took History 323 online. The format of the class looks simple, but there are weekly readings and an essay due each Sunday. Sources range from videos to full on articles. It is a lot of reading but somehow it becomes enjoyable and before you know if youve actually learned something. Works read were Frankenstein, Heart of Darkness...

Dr. Elwood is a great professor! Her class is very straightforward. Every week is a different topic. She gives you until Sunday night of every week to write a one page paper on whichever topic was covered that week. Two 3-5 page thesis papers. Forums. She cares about her students and wants you to learn. History major or not, I recommend her!

I took her class online and got a B+ because I got lazy and missed a few assignments. As long as you do your Reading Response (350+ words) and Forum every Sunday you will pass. There are two papers which she grades kind of tough. You have to answer her questions exactly or she will doc points. Overall, not too hard but there is a lot of writing

LOTS of readings and some movie watchings. Weekly reading responses, Forums, a group project (a powerpoint presentation) and two papers (3-5 pages). They were not tough but very time-consuming. I spent more time on this course (3 units) than my major courses (4 units), because of the readings. She is very nice, also an easy grader.

Straight forward online class. Get ready to read though because you'll be reading at least 200 pages a week! A one page reading response every week with some forums. 2 papers, no exams.

TONS of busywork that was only somewhat challenging. It was very difficult for me to meet constant deadlines without being more challenged intellectually. She is a relatively easy grader but the class still carried an intimidatingly high workload. She is an especially open minded professor who loves hearing all kinds of viewpoints.

Ann is the nicest little old lady, but she's also super sharp when it comes to history, research, and knowing the business of being a historian. Her class was really fantastic. Lots of discussions, some presentations, and lots of help on the big research paper.

Her online class was easy and enlightening. There were no tests just weekly forums and reading responses. The readings are long so don't wait until the last minute to do them. Other than that a sweet teacher, definitely recommend her.

Professor Elwood's online Society and Cultural in Early Modern History class should be a must take for all history majors. This was a very enlightening class for me, personally. There were weekly discussion bds, weekly reading and a group project but it was all pretty easy as long as you kept up with the reading. Take her class.

Elwood is a good teacher, I do like her. That said, unless you're willing to do weekly reading responses and participate in the group discussions, you will fail. I figured it being an online class, I could handle it. 1) I don't like Early Modern History, 2) I don't like reading textbooks. If you're like this, don't take it!
