I honestly thought the English department was playing a prank on us by having us take this teacher. At the end of the semester, however, no one jumped out and yelled "just kidding". We all had to live with our D's and F's, the worst part of the class was having to mop up the drool that pooled at your desk because of how dull it was.

He's boring as all get out, and I would recommend not taking his class if at all possible. That said, I have a feeling many of the comments here were left by students who didn't do the readings (not that I blame them). If you HAVE read what he's talking about it's better: JUST bearable. Tip: talking in class discussion will help keep you awake.

His name says it all. Hes in the wrong business, he should be on audio tapes for lulabies, his voice puts you to sleep. Class is terrible, and grading scale is very hard. You only have 2 tests and thats your whole grade. Do not take this guy unless you are a lit major

oh my god someone please get this guy fired!!! he is the worst teacher i have ever had in my LIFETIME. is extremely opinionated and if he doesn't agree with what you're writing you are SCREWED. i took gender issues in cinema for winter term with him and i regret it completely. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT TO PUT UP WITH HELL. horrible!

I had "Boring Bland" more than 20 years ago and because of him (and his inabilities to see everyone as individuals), I wound up attending an extra semester at Elon. I loved Elon but he was awful! I had other professors stick up for me and my writing but he was terrible :-( Can't believe he's still there! (can't remember grades)

Honestly - worst teacher I have ever had in my life. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Seriously. He grades randomly and horribly, he never explains anything well, very boring, and he's completely opinionated (even though some of the time I agreed with him, it was completely offensive for some people and totally unnecessary). HORRID. Stay away.

this man is the single most boring person ALIVE. if at all possible, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! boring, monotone, slow-talking, thinks there is only ONE right answer (his) to everything, fails every time at striking up discussion, no one is ever interested, no one cares. you'll be ready to jump off a building by the end of the first week.

No homework. You will have 4 large papers. Each deals with an identity issue--race, gender... Don't expect a writer's license. You are writing for Bland more than you are for yourself. Will help and review your papers if you ask for assistance. Fix the areas he recommends working on and you'll be fine. Interesting material, but B. is a bit Bland.
