Had her for Orgo II in the late summer semester. She's the best organic chemistry professor but that doesn't mean much. Lectures worked through tougher material and problems, but you're expected to read/make notes on the textbook prior to class. You get 1 drop quiz, but no other professors had quizzes, only exams. Hardest class I've had to take.

I've never had a worse experience. Has no sympathy, no remorse, and certainly does not know how to teach. Going to class is helpful but good luck actually understanding anything she scribbles on the board. Does not reply to emails and does not answer any questions you ask her during office hours. If you ask a ? in person, expect no answer.

Dr. Zhang's exams reflect literally nothing that was ever talked about in class and the only way to get a good grade is to be an expert in organic chemistry. There is no partial credit or drop exam. Stay far away from Dr. Zhang.

Professor Zhang is a solid professor overall. Attend class and recitations because she will literally give students questions she will be asking on the test. Also, use the book and old exams to study. This class takes work but Professor Zhang is very clear about what she wants her students to know and study.

Only point of lecture is to write practice problems she might use on the test, otherwise completely useless. The textbook is great and will be your teacher. Exams were much harder than ones from previous years, and very little partial credit was given because they were open note. No drop exam but you get one drop quiz. Curve was great at the end.

I found Dr. Zhang's lectures to be completely useless. However, the the textbook for her class is incredibly well-written and very helpful. Just be prepared to literally read the whole textbook and do every practice problem. VERY time consuming. Get old tests if you can, it's the best way to study, she reuses questions a lot.

Zhang is a nice person, but she's not a good teacher. You really have to read the textbook to understand the concepts, and do the assigned practice problems. Going to lecture helps because she says what you need to focus on, and some of her in class examples are on tests. FYI there's no drop exam.

this class is hard obv but Zhang is a good choice. she uses examples straight from lecture on tests so go to class and take good notes. the textbook is really good at explaining things when Zhang isn't. read the textbook and do. the. practice. problems. Zhang is actually super sweet and it's not hard to find her tests from previous years

The only way to pass this class is to read and truly know the entire book, but the textbook is actually really helpful. Go to class to make sure u know what she wants u to. This class is hard but if you put in a few hours each day and intensely study for the exams, you'll make it just fine. It's not impossible, but you have to be dedicated.

Zhang is very sweet and wants her students to do well, but she is very inaccessible over email. Her tests are grounded in the textbook concepts (problems are not complex, but you need to know everything very well to do well in the class). She lets you drop 1/3 quizzes. I personally preferred my orgo I class bc it was smaller-- this class is huge.

Just an FYI to anyone reading this who sees reviews saying her tests are straightforward! She made them much more difficult this year (and VERY different from the last few years' tests) - ask anyone who took her in 2019/2020. She is a horrible lecturer and now her tests are basically impossible to do well on, along with no partial credit at all.

Completely disengaging, it is puzzling that Tulane year in and year out has her teach such a difficult and demanding Chemistry course. Dr. Zhang has a brilliant mind, but her teaching style is simply not conducive to the rigor of the class. She presents examples in class used on tests, apart from that it is 100% on you to teach yourself

Zhang's lectures are really disorganized, but it's worth going to get the examples she puts on the board. They are often repeated verbatim on the exams. The class requires a huge amount of individual effort and without self teaching skills, it would be really difficult to succeed. Luckily the textbook is great.

Hardest class I have ever taken, doesnt help when the professor is unclear in class and treats office hours as an opportunity to show how poorly you are doing in the course. The only way I was able to pass the course was to teach myself entirely from the text, sometimes even going to class was bad for understanding material, she assumes everything

Prof Zhang has a very strong accent and speaks quickly during her lectures, thus very hard to follow in class. When I went to see her during office hours she made me feel stupid for asking things and then proceeded to describe the topic as "common sense"... the class was basically entirely self taught and the only way to do well is not take her.

Going to class was a huge waste of time because she did a terrible job of explaining the material. The tests were a lot harder than anything covered in the textbook or in class, so the only way to do well was to look at tests from previous years. She makes it very clear that she thinks you're very stupid if you ask her anything. Awful.

Goes very fast in lectures, so difficult to keep up. Sometimes hard to understand. If you are not good at self-teaching, do not take her. You will need to learn mostly everything on your own from the textbook. As long as you put in a lot of work, you should be fine. Show you care, study a lot, and ask for help. It's hard, but doable.

Went to her office hours and felt shamed. She makes me feel stupid. She doesn't answer questions and ignores hands in class. ALWAYS read the textbook. Her test questions come almost directly from lecture, but she often leaves reactions incomplete. Don't take her class.
