Worst teacher I have ever taken. He came out of retirement because IT needed more teachers and he uses his retirement as an excuse to not help at all. Zero office hours and responds super late to emails. Assigns insane projects without giving you any resources to help. If you pass this class it'll be from teaching yourself.

Lim is a nice professor, but the class structure is awful. Everything up until the first test was understandable, each homework assignment took about 10-15 hours to complete, and one was due every 2 weeks. After the first test the toughness increases exponentially. You also need a 63 average on the tests or you will not pass. Good luck.

Be prepared to work extremely hard and NOT have it recognized! Expect to put in hours upon hours upon hours of work just to get by. There are 2 exams and he requires an 83 average between the two to get an A (Best of luck). Also, you will spend a good hour reading over his poorly written assignment instructions. He needs to take a writing class.

If you go to class, start your HW/Project EARLY, and study/bring good notes to the tests you'll be fine. HW was alot but not impossible, and who really likes working on group projects? He has that exam average rule but I had an 81 exam avg and still got an A. No as terrible as everyone else is saying, just stay on top of it and you'll be fine.

IT 353 was the worst experience of my college career. Lim ensures you have at least 15 hours of homework per week, not to mention the monotonous group project. It's not that the material is overwhelmingly difficult, it's that Lim just makes you do so much in so little time. Oh, and we never even got our second exam scores back. Horrible experience.

Class is fine, but Dr. Lim assigns two week's worth of assignments due in four days, repeatedly. There's barely any breathing room. You WON'T have a social life. I didn't even make it to the first test before dropping.

Not easy but all the work put in was worth the effort. The group project can be stressful and you have to make time for it. But it was fun and I learned a lot about web development.

God awful at teaching. Just genuinely lacks the ability to teach. I have never before had a teacher in a programming course tell me "I don't know" in response to a simple question about a homework assignment. Tests are mind melting and cannot be finished in the allotted time. Group Project at the end that is very frustrating as well.

More work than any student can handle unless you do nothing else all week. The assignments are massive. He does not teach, just tells you to figure it out yourself. You're lucky to find him in his office during his listed office hours. Sometimes he will make an assignment due earlier to fit his needs. A waste of time and money.

Horrible teacher. Doesn't explain anything, shows simplified examples. Projects are due about every week and are long. Be prepared to not have a life. Tests are long, and even if you get decent grades on projects, tests suck and have to have an average of 73% to get a B. DON'T TAKE IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO!!!

Be prepared to bust your butt off for all of his ridiculously long assignments, then earn 80%+ percent total in his class, after busting your butt off on those assignments, only to be railed at the end and earn a C, due to his 73% average test score requirement to earn a B. Prepare for 1 hour long, 10 page tests where you write out full programs

Had him twice, not by choice. He throws simplified examples of work of homework. Partner and I went to his office hours to ask about problem we had, he said idk but if you figure it out let me know. What teacher does that. His tests are hard as you need to memorize all the code see shows in class. Be prepared to send 80+ hours on class project/HW.

Good lord this class consumes your life. I've had difficult courses as a CS major, but I've never had THIS MUCH programming per semester from a course. Each assignment consists of 2-3 big, heavily micromanaged projects - which are due just about every week. On top of that, he throws in a group project. (all of this is only 45% of your grade)

Very Difficult to follow, doesn't give enough feedback. Gives a LOT of work. Reasonable to get help from but you have to track HIM down which isn't always easy to do when you have a packed schedule. Tests are insanely hard. Be prepared to work your BUTT off and Goddess help you if you have a lot on your plate already.

This teacher has no clue how to teach. He isn't very organized or good at explaining anything as well as expects you to use the examples on the data server containing all the progs. The final project contains only one use case that he taught, yet nothing else. Extremely time consuming and unclear. Be ready for him not to return grades ever.

Doesn't really teach ever. Just throws examples at you and expects you to do it yourself. Not all the examples are even that useful. Disappointed in this teacher.

Teaching method is simply copy/paste from working examples that he doesn't create. Assigns a very heavy load of work. Lectures based on dated, obsolete slides. Very ambiguous responses to student questions. Will not return grades for work completed in 2nd half of the class (many suspect he doesn't grade at all). Seems out of touch in 354/.NET too.

Comment:
Assignments take a lot of time but are pretty easy. Encourages students to copy his code instead of teaching better. Insists on teaching and using JSF framework for assignments. The time it takes to write something in JSF is completely arbitrary relative to other frameworks. Suggestion: JSP. Overall doable class.
