Hes a good teacher. im taking his summer class, so its much harder. i never really understood math, but he makes it seem pretty simple, mainly cuz its algebra 2. ahaha. we take daily quizzes and unfortunately im failing most, but just cuz i pay more attn to his tattoos than the lecture >.<

I totally agree with the comment before me. Alvarado is a GREAT teacher. He is detailed and explains everything well. You do not need to open the book expect to do homework. He is fair, helpful, and very smart. If you are a serious student, there is no reason not do well in his class.

Excellent instructor-- very knowledgeable in mathematics and very detailed in lecture. The guy should go for a Ph.D. and teach full time at CSULA. I myself want to be a college math instructor, and this guy provides an excellent example.

Good teacher, but not so great if you want to learn trigonometry. Solved problems with too many shortcuts when every detail is vital in learning new material. 2nd midterm, more than 1/2 failed. What does that say about the his teaching. Take another instructor if you want to really learn the material well.

This guy is extremely difficult. He gives you 2 midterms and 1 hard final. Throughout the quarter, he gives out a lot of pop quizzes, so study or don't come to class at all. He likes to challenge you with hard problems. He would show the steps to you once and expect you to know it by the midterm. So take his class if you want something to look at.

For me, Alvarado was one of the best math professors I have had. He was so clear, responsive to questions, his lecture was thorough, very helpful during office hours, generous grader, gave weekly quizzes to makesure the class was following, and very smart guy. My retention of differential calculus even a year after I took is class is very strong.

Mr. Alvarado is a young teacher that does not take the time to reach out to his students. He skips steps that makes learning harder. His tests are not fair because the things that are learned are transformed into tricky questions for the tests.

He is not a bad teacher, but teaches his class taking harder steps. He changes the problems all the time to challenge you and makes problems really difficult to solve. His tests/finals are extremely difficult. More than half of our class got below 50%. Only 3-4 were in 80's or 90's score.

Mr. Alvarado is excellent, highly perceptive, and understanding. I have just begun his class this fall 2005 quarter, but I like him already. I am going to have to rerate him once class is over, but I'm sure that my original opinions will stand. I highly recommend him. Listen well, and make sure to ask questions in class. Get involved and don't be afraid to speak out. He is very patient and takes the time to answer all of your questions. Down to earth, friendly, personable, so students can be chummy
