He just does examples from the book and doesn't even explain them so you basically have to teach yourself. Just do yourself a favor and take another professor because with Barinov you won't learn a thing

Hes a really nice guy and you can tell he wants everyone to do well, but he cant teach. Examples are pulled from the textbook, theres no reason to his grading of quizzes, and he has this weird policy where he wont let you use your laptops, even if youre trying to pull up the textbook to follow along. Better to just read the textbook yourself.

Attendance to the Orgo Lab is mandatory. However, Barinov comes in late and makes everyone wait. He is a very tough grader on the quizzes which he leaves zero feedback. He grades on a whim sometimes. Barinov makes everyone wait for their reactions and prepare their substrates for long hours but the other class has substrates pre-made.

Nice guy, not helpful. In recitation, if he wasn't 10-20 minute late, he forgot the quizzes from the previous week. And if he didn't forget those quizzes, he forgot the quizzes he was supposed to administer for that day. And if he didn't forgot that, he forgot markers... His explanations for homework problems are from the textbook... Verbatim...

He doesn't really lecture so much as write examples on the board... and the examples are directly out of the textbook, the ones in each chapter that have solutions along with them. There's a bit of a language barrier and sometimes he struggles with english, and he really really hates people who use their phones in class - you WILL be called out

I had him for Orgo Lab. First I don't know why I got a B+ since I got a 9/10 on all the quizzes. I asked him about it in lab and he just said he felt like giving it to me..... He gave everyone else an A- or A even though they got 7/10 on the quizzes.... The lab notebook was the same for everyone else too. He talks too much too.

First, his accent makes you feel sleep and unable to pay attetion to the materials. He seems to talk to himself for most of the time. He is incompetent to teach or clarify the course materials. I basically learnt everything from the recitation professor who can explain the formula in a decent way. The midterm is easy, but be aware of the final.

I had him for physics 1 and a couple of things - his english isnt very great so communication is poor between the students and him 2. he does not explain the material well because he struggles with language barriers 3. he goes extremely slow so he does not cover much 4. he only covers BASICS (nothing like quizzes or MIDTERM) 5. He is very sweet!

"Good Good Good". Hard grader but extremely nice and funny. Will always help out. Don't start a conversation with him if you are busy! It will probably last over 30 mins. The TAs are just amazing. If you break a beaker, they will bring you two. One of them is really pretty too =D

I had him for organic lab and he was great. He doesn't usually stick around the whole lab time, but when he is there, hes very helpful (especially since the TAs aren't). He's also very understanding, but don't try to take advantage of it.
