Comment:
Leroy seems like a nice person. This class was extremely unorganized and direction was not given. The final paper is worth nearly half your grade. No rubrics, and poor poor direction. Had a TA mark everything.

While his lectures were extremely unclear, the biggest issue was his lack of consideration for student's planning out their time. His syllabus lacked any mention of due dates and he wouldn't reveal them until 3-4 days before the paper would be due. Similarly readings were assigned the night before class (via late night emails).

Leroy is a constitutional lawyer. He is brilliant, and this brilliance should be displayed likely in a law office. Sometimes brilliance doesn't translate as well into teaching.

Mr. Little Bear is a wonderful, inspiring example of a professor. At the university level 2000+ students are expected to think critically, independantly etc...Leroy facilitates this. Go to the Colege if you want to be coddled!

Aweful. Didn't tell class that 60% and below was a fail 'til after he marked the test even though he was asked at the beginning of the semester. Repetitive. Boring. Provided class with minimal or no info about the tests which were worth 50%. Missed several classes. Seems to have an alterior motive for teaching the class. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!

Comment:
He is teaching Carlos Castenada. Castenada has been proven false! He simply made up those conversations to Mr. Juan and made money off them. I do not think they should teach that non sense in respect to Native American Philosophy. It is simply take out of the context of books and not from a traditional grass roots perspective.

I really enjoyed the lectures they were rich with information, but none of it was on the final exam, why? The exams were based on the LARGE amount of reading that was not discussed in class, why? The exams were poorly worded and confusing, ambiguous is an understatement. An incredible professor, Yet needs to re-develop his curriculum.

Poorly written, ambiguous exam questions - the only reason to show up for class is attendence marks; lecture material does not show up on exam. Leroy missed several classes and didn't test on subject matter from guest lectures.

His teaching was awesome & he is quite the knowled-gable guy, But this class turned me off of any further interest in NAS. THe interestign stuff was taught in class, the dry stuff was in the text. The exams were from the text & I paid $400 to read a book.

He needs to teach the "real" philosophy of the Native Americans, the truth.
