Comment:
I really enjoyed having Dr. Knowler as my prof for REM 200. He is very knowledgable and I feel that I have learned a lot. My only qualm is that the course is weighted heavily on the back-end, meaning we have yet to receive 70% of the course grade, so that's rather stressful. Otherwise, he's a great prof and I recommend taking a class with him.

Comment:
The concept of the class was to know the aspects of environmental management, analyze, and make commentary. We had 2 papers, 1 group presentation and 1 final. Just memorizing concepts is not enough, prof checks if you can actually make conclusions from these concepts and real-life examples. He knows what he s talking about. Very smart prof.

This class has a lot of writing, but he marks like it is a W class. The lectures are good, but the written assignment are hard. I don't understand why. The TA marks like a robot.

This was Ecological Economics, first time offered. He was very knowledgeable as a REM professor. There were two long assignments, a term paper, and a final exam; all were relevant to class material. Really knew his stuff and answered questions well. Enthusiastic about the material. Great course overall for environmental science or economic people!

ok, studying about the environment, sounds easy and interesting right?...NOT. I chose the wrong course for an elective and it screwed up my GPA. He seems like a nice guy but for me, a person who doesnt really care about the environment , this course sucks.

Course material is very interesting although lectures may be boring at times, but if you're into social science/geography this course is recommended, assignments and term paper were straight forward and marked fairly. The only complaints would be the heavy reading load and the all-essay final.

Thoroughly enjoyed the course and his teaching style. No midterm and a couple of easy assignments. One big term paper but if you try its not that bad. If you've taken an econ class you will do well. He has an econ background and does not hide it very well.

I like how he tries to explain his points without swinging left nor right. Bias is thoroughly restrained. Encourages people to form their own opinions. I like that.
