This guy only talks the entire class. You sit in a circle everyday and talk about random crap that doesnt even relate to the topics. I only took this class because its part of my major but this guy is horrible. He brings his political views into the classroom far too much and grades on a very difficult level. He hates athletes too so good luck.

Dr. Loviglio is an amazing professor who truly loves his job. He is ALWAYS there if you need to discuss anything with him, he sincerely wants to see his students succeed and it shows in how he runs his classes. You need to read and put effort into the projects, but do that and the class is a cinch.

Dr. Loviglio is an awesome professor, very funny and just a nice person to be around. His lectures tend to only scratch the surface of the topics however if you go to office hours he will further explain the topics. Also, he'll talk about non-class stuff too. So if you're considering taking his class TAKE IT! FYI MCS101 is project based!

As far as engaging, passionate, and fair college professors go Loviglio is easily the best I've had at UMBC. He's fair to everyone, but participate in class and put some effort in and he'll go out of his way to help you out. He grades a bit hard but so do all good teachers. Make sure you do the readings, they're all interesting too.

This class is discussion based; he'll come into class with a topic to teach and a point to make, and reach it through class discussion. So, participation brownie points. No tests, just papers and media-production projects over the semester. Really fun, engaging, interesting teacher. Knows his history and his pop culture. Funny and informed.

Awesome professor/guy, stupid humor but hilarious - will make you laugh. in touch with pop culture & other technologies. Challenges your ideas, makes you think. No attendance but randomly gives in-class writings which are brief summary's of the readings. MUST DO THE READINGS! Very easy tho, actually enjoyed/looked forward to attending class.

Great professor. I'd taken the course based on great reviews about him. I really did enjoy it and learned alot. He is a great guy outside of the class as well. I definitely see myself staying in touch with him for insight later on in my academic career. Grand experience. I would recommend the course to anyone.

He wasn't anything special. He makes you think, but he expects you to think what he tells you to think. If you love hearing other peoples opinions, take his class. if you like to think for yourself, maybe not.

Lovigliio is a funny guy- but WOO he is a liberal! Sometimes he takes half the class to spout off his political opinions. He assigns a ton of work, but grades fairly easy. If you don't like listening to someone's political diatribe every class, this is not for you!Oh, and be prepared for three 10 page papers.

One of the best professors in American Studies! He really makes you think during class and he doesn't hand you the answers. This makes for some really good learning experiences. Take any of his classes if you get a chance, especially Media Studies!

very hard, writing-intensive class! the final paper is exhausting and hard and he isn't always clear about his grading for it or the abstract. take his class with caution, but he is an excellent, witty professor-- just a bit on the tough side.
