she is a nice person, but def have some communication problem. she publishes the assignment from the previous years even after she told us there is a change, which could make people who missed the class lost. In a way she is either lazy, or too busy that she doesn't put effort in to updating the assignments.

*warning, this was in a remote learning environment* This was the first time I had her, and she seems like in person she'd be great, but remote, she was not good at communication. She was vague on assignments & feedback. I didn't know we had a discord until wk11. For the final, she said to do one thing then changed it w/o telling us.

Best teacher I've ever had, she is INSANELY passionate. She truly loves teaching and making sure everyone passes with the best grade possible. However even more importantly she teaches you in order for you to ACTUALLY use the language. I have had a total of 3 different Japanese teachers and many other professors in other classes and she top notch.

I was in her class from JPN101 through JPN203. She is very involved and sincerely wants her students to succeed. She expects a lot but provides easily accessible resources and plenty of practice. She is encouraging, funny, and patient. Very detail-oriented (do homework during her daily announcements) but overall one of the best teachers I ever had.

Takako is a caring, dedicated teacher.. That said, I would only take her class if you are truly passionate about Japanese AND are willing to work hard. She assigns a lot of work, and expects you to actually read the textbook, but she also dedicates so much time/energy to helping students in her office hour. She is truly prepping you for 300 level.

Takako is an amazing teacher! She truly cares about every single one of her students, and gives you as much time as you need. She assigns a ton of homework, but it's all necessary to true comprehension. She's the kindest, most genuine, hardest working teacher I've ever met, and has so much zest and passion for life. I couldn't recommend her more!!

Takako Sensei might be the most diligent, thoughtful, & caring instructor you will find at PCC. She will meet outside of her classroom hours whenever you need. She puts her students first & will push you to succeed. *If you take her class you must care about it to get an A. Some find the class too intensive b/c they thought of it as an easy A.

Yamaguchi is patient and kind. If you try your best she is willing to work with you one on one and explain why she marked you down, going over key points that you are struggling with. Attendance is mandatory, this is normal for any language class. There is a decent amount of homework and a quiz each week. Put in the work and you'll pass.

Earned "A" if you put in the work, not to much homework, willing to assist you outside of class as well. She is NOT trying to fail you but you still have to be present. She is unorganized, after break the remainder 40 minutes was spent going over the syllabus. She needs to limit the advanced students speaking, one student dropped because of it

Takako is very nice and helpful, however her expectations are sometimes unclear and she often assigns confusing assignments that are difficult to complete. She marks you down on handwriting on the homework even though there isn't really an emphasis on writing in the class. She is kind of an arbitrary grader but a very nice person.

I think that she is a great teacher. Yes, her class is difficult because she asks for attendance and quality work and is quite picky, but I think her availability and willingness to help make up for it. She always has office hours and free tutors available as well as plenty of extra credit.

Takako is a very nice person, but she isn't a good teacher. There is a lot of homework assigned that doesn't benefit the student much. Difficult grader. She will mark you down on handwriting even if the answer is correct. Should spend less time reading the weekly planner and more time teaching. No clarity in this class.

Yamaguchi Sensei is a fantastic teacher. If you really want to learn Japanese then she is the teacher for you. If you are only taking it for required credits, choose another teacher. She gives a LOT of homework. While it seems like a burden you really do learn the material. She is more helpful and has more office hours than any other teacher I had.

I had 2 years of Japanese in high school. And this 101 class is HARD. Dont take this class if you work full time... Or part time.. or 12 hours a week. I tried all of them. In fact, she told me to drop the class and come back when I have saved money and don't work. Im totally going to community college because I can afford that kind of thing.

I want to start by saying that Yamaguchi is a very talented and passionate teacher. She has a TON of experience and clearly likes to be involved in the community. However, her classes are HARD. You will need a lot of time to pass this class with an A. However, if you do, you will be one hell of a Japanese speaker in the end. Good luck.

I gave Yamaguchi-sensei 2 terms before I had to try a different instructor. She's a very nice person, and I learned a lot from her class, but she is terribly unorganized and has a tendency to be unclear on projects and what is expected. I feel like I fought tooth and nail for the A that I received. Prepare for frustration with her classes.

Yamaguchi is a wonderful teacher and she would do anything for her students. I have loved taking classes from her BUT they are not easy and there is a TON of homework. My only only complaint and it's really more of an observation is that she goes so far out of her way for her students and her department she often spreads herself a little thin.

Yamaguchi sensei is a good person. Her teaching style works for most but not all. She revises her syllabus to fit the pace of the students. She is flexible & understanding but only if, as the student you let her know through email or discussion what you need or where you are at. She is very helpful if you meet during her office hrs.

Sensei is really nice, but unorganized, very unorganized. She doesn't use enough English to explain everything shes talking about. Its good that we speak in Japanese a lot, but there are times where it would be more helpful to explain and talk about the subject of the matter in English rather than Japanese. Overall, you may fail or you may not.
