Online due to Covid. 10 min check-in twice a week where you could ask questions, otherwise, the course was asynchronous. Weekly lecture videos, practice problems, graded hw applications, and a multiple-choice quiz. It can be quite a bit of work. 3 tests throughout the semester and a heftier final. Solid choice if you are an independent learner.

Prof Gerard is a really nice guy and knows what he's talking about. He made sure to only graded the topics that were relevant and went through a ton of exercises in class. There is a homework (3 attempts) and quiz (1 attempt) for each chapter, and like 3 exams total!

Not many good things to say about Gerard. Did not adjust well to the online instruction. Lectured us on one thing and the homework/quizzes were completely different, so the lectures were almost useless. Exams are extremely difficult, and we have THREE in the final week of class, one is due in three days and he has yet to upload any material...

I took this as a hybrid class, but it got moved to online due to the virus. I am struggling- he gives a homework and a quiz for every chapter, and we have had 4 exams in one month. The exams are 90 minutes, 25-30 questions, and they are hard. I failed the second. We have a week left of school, and he plans to give us two more exams.... HARD CLASS

Joe is a solid choice. I personally enjoyed his teaching style. One day a week we would go over all of the aspects of the chapter, equations and what not. The next day we would go over examples of every problem type you could possibly see on any quiz/exam. Reading is really optional, however helpful. Take good notes in class. Nice guy!

Basically, you come to class and he does all the practice problems on the board for you. You don't really have time to think for yourself, and are oftentimes left to wonder how you got the answers when you have to go back and study for the tests. You eventually get it, with 4 tests it isn't too hard. I just don't know about him...

Joe is one of the best professors available at UWW. I have had him for both managerial and cost accounting. He walks through plenty of problems that reflect what will be on the exam. I recommend reading the textbook to do well on conceptual problems. Joe is not very responsive to email, but he is extremely caring! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

he is a good teacher overall. accounting is a hard subject so it is a hard class. we spent one day of class going over the chapter and the other working on practice problems. if you go to his office he will help clear things up for you! homework and quiz due just about every sunday from the chapter we talked about in class. overall a good teacher

Joe is a great teacher. He knows what he's doing, has a great understanding of how to teach, and goes through a lot of examples in class. He also does a great job of gauging how much teaching he needs to do. If the scheduled material for a class is light, he won't waste your time going through it slowly and will let the class out early. Recommended

Knowledgeable professor, but doesn't take time to get you prepared for the exams. He will literally find already made homework that doesn't prepare you for the exam to do and doesn't make exam prep till the last minute. Very nice guy and understanding, but makes it seem like he isn't teaching all that we need to know.

Everyday in class he teaches off the board so you must attend class. Great professors and makes sure you know exactly what youre doing. Makes accounting SUPER easy. 3 exams and youre told what will be on it plus a study guide and practice test. Short homework assignments and quiz due every couple sundays. AMAZING PROFESSOR, KNOWS HIS STUFF

He may be a great teacher for in-person instruction but he's awful online. The equivalent of a week of lectures for the online students is a 20 minute video glossing over some content and instruction to read the chapter of the book. He doesn't interact with the class very much and responds to online questions and emails weeks after they are posted.

Dr. Gerard is a great Accounting professor, and I would recommend him to anyone. He is very knowledgeable, and it shows in his lectures as he is able to explain concepts quite simply. I really enjoyed his class, as he is even-keeled and even makes subtle jokes at times. Accounting is no cake walk, but Gerard can help you through it if you show up.

One of the better accounting professors I have ever had the pleasure of taking. Like other people have said, accounting is difficult, but taking the right teacher makes it a far better experience. Will he just had out A's for no effort? No. But he will make it a lot easier to succeed in class, and was a very fun guy to have class with.

Graded on very few things, so if you don't do well on one of the tests, it can really impact your grade. Although he stated tests were noncumulative - they did include previous material. Exams you couldn't see what questions you missed, so were unable to know what to focus on for the next one. Even when I asked he wouldn't share. Would avoid.

Joe Gerard is probably the best professor to take for accounting, especially for an online course. He gives great feedback and is always available via email or D2L for any questions. Accounting is a difficult course but Professor Gerard makes it a little better.

Joe is accessible via email quickly. I took this class online and it was fairly easy. The exams were online and homework. There was only 4 discussion posts and you just had to reply to two students.
