I loved Dr. Frye with my whole heart. He was incredible at explaining extremely daunting topics and he worked really hard to help his students understand the material. He cared a lot about everyone's success and would repeatedly tell us about his "nightmares" that somebody forgot to add their tension/compression legend on the exam. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Makes statics a breeze, solving trusses member to member changes lives. Go to class and follow along with examples and the tests and exams will be easy! The weekly tutorial assignments are all the practice you'll need for exam.

Dr. Frye is a fantastic prof. Really cares about all his students and wants them to succeed. He even gives his home phone number at the beginning of the year. He goes over LOTS of practice problems and is good about giving extra marks. He appears to be grumpy but that just seems to be when students aren't grabbing a simple concept. Ask questions!

Loved Frye, he was hilarious because he finds the subject so easy that anyone who doesn't understand it he will kinda bug you. He always says how if you don't understand something to contact him and he always makes himself available, really cares about his students and wants them to do well.

A very helpful hand throughout the course. He explains problems thoroughly especially when met one-on-one. Do everything you can to get perfect marks in all your work, it's really not as hard as you might think. Although, there are lots problems to practice.

He is a very good prof and cares about his students, although he can be quite rude to individuals at times, but don't worry about it too much. I'm not sure if he has just retired but he was the head of the course and knows the stuff forward and backward and explains very well. Go to class and do the assignments on time and you'll get an A!

One of the best prof's I've ever had. He can across as a bit intimidating and grumpy, but he has genuine interest in his students and wants them all to do well. He tells you what is on the exam and it's basically the same as the assignments. The only tough part is that you need an 86 to get an A. If you're taking Statics, take it with Dr. Frye!

He explains the material very clearly and there's no misunderstanding. He may sound grumpy as others have pointed out, but that's just his demeanor. He really cares that his students pass and will always be available to answer questions. He doesn't use the assigned textbook, as he posted his own textbook/notes online for his students to access.

Dr. Frye is a great professor. It is obvious he wants students to do well in his class. He makes himself super available to students (he gave us his home phone number!!). He is very helpful with assignments/tutorials, and will walk you through if need be. Lectures are thorough as he usually teaches with lots of examples. All in all, great prof!

John Frye is definitely one of the better profs for ENG 1440. His lectures can seem long at times but that's more because of the material not him. Don't be afraid to ask for help. He may seem grumpy at times but I assure he is very nice and extremely helpful. He is also a very generous grader and wants to see everyone do well.

Really good prof, his notes are clear and understandable. A lot of the homework is similar to tests and midterms. He will say what types of questions will appear on evaluations. He seems grumpy a lot of the time, but if you go up he will definitely be willing to help! He is also willing to help by email or outside of office hours too!

Great professor. Clear notes always posted online, very explicit instructions on what to study for exams. Don't be alarmed when he freezes mid lecture and stares blankly at class as if he's shocked that your still there.

Great prof, he always seemed to be in a bad mood, but wants students to do well nonetheless. His lectures were repetitive and boring but still very helpful. Things that seemed hard at the beginning of the semester came naturally by the end. Always checking to make sure you understand the material because he really wanted everyone to understand

Lectures were very boring and he wasn't very approachable. He would kind of get mad at you if you were doing a question wrong and asked him for help. He also stifled any creativity - you had to do problems exactly the way he showed you or else he wouldn't even try helping you. I found the textbook to be better at explaining concepts than him.

Great Prof. Lectures aren't necessarily exciting, but nevertheless useful. He walks through the course exactly the way the textbook is written (he wrote it), so you won't fall behind if you miss a lecture. Beyond helpful as well, cares genuinely about student success. Highly recommend him.

Extremely helpful and quick to answer questions. Lectures were really dull and a lot of material could be figured out in tutorials but still good to attend, he gave lots of hints and would go through entire assignments before they were due.
