Comment:
Really nice man, his lectures are super long and wordy and somewhat unnecessary to listen to as it's going over the readings. The readings were really interesting and enjoyable, theres no small assignments just big essays. Kinda a tough grader for papers but he's willing to help with rough drafts and give feedback. All in all solid choice.

Comment:
Paul's lectures are pointless and usually do not provide any useful information. He is very particular when it comes to essays and a very tough marker. However, if you go to him for help he is very helpful and accommodating. If he sees you putting in the effort, he will greatly respect that and be easier on you

His lectures are so long and he rambled on to the point where you cant take notes cause hes talking about nothing noteworthy. If youre not a master in essay writing exactly how he wants hell make you feel like garbage about it basically. NEVER taking his class again. i hope the exam saves my grade.

Comment:
Dr. Marquis structures his class so they centre around class discussion, but then does not effectively lead them. Classes often fall into chaotic discussion of subjects he brings up on tangents, unrelated to course material. I also find he does not go beyond the books, and ignores the further implications of literary works as English is meant to do

Dr. Marquis is a good professor. He does get off topic but if you pay attention the material does all get covered and he has a good sense of humor, I thought he was funny and entertaining. He marks up your essays but if you put in quality time you'll get what you deserve. Not a bad course, just give your essays time and read the poems.

Though the professor was a bit confusing, and quite the hard marker, I did enjoy his upbeat attitude. He was very approachable, but you do have to struggle to understand what exactly he wants from you on the papers.

Lectures are pretty dry and he gets off topic easily... Exams are fine if you read the material but papers are hard and he is an extremely hard marker. Makes you feel bad about yourself if you aren't a super amazing writer.

Marquis is a nice guy most of the time, but he can be tough on students. If you aren't an amazing writer, he'll let you know. The exam is easy if you've read all of the required material, but the papers are brutal. He will help if you ask for it, but he tends to ramble a lot and lectures are torture because he gets off topic so much

Generally a nice guy, but his lectures tend to be very long. Once he gets off track, his tangents can go on for the entire class and it leaves you wondering why you even bothered to come. He's a really hard marker for papers and basically makes the class feel like crap if they aren't amazing writers

He's really confusing during lecture, but if you're interested in Edmund Spenser and renaissance literature in general he's a great prof. I wouldn't suggest him if you prefer high levels of organization, as he goes on tangents quite often! Kind of a hard marker... Use the Spenser encyclopedia to your advantage.

I love this man. Class was a little unorganized but he was a fair marker and was clear on what the exam would be like. Definitely one of my favourite profs.

Undecipherable. He can not finish a sentence, and when he does, it makes no sense. He is very unclear on due dates or what should be read when. Nice guy, not meant to lecture.

Useless. He goes on huge tangents. Lecture topics are all over the place and hard to follow. He cannot complete a full sentence. This year, with the strike, his course outline and reading list are not only impossible to manage but also impossible to decipher. It is unclear when things are due and what to read by what point. A painful class.

Such a good prof! He may go on a bit in class, and may be a little difficult of a marker, but you learn so much from him, and he is very fair.

He incoherently preaches coherence. His lectures are nothing but plot rants that digress from the said plot. The man cannot utter a full sentence ... either he does not finish or just stares off into space. This was the most frustrating class I took in my undergrad

He is so hard on essays that if you're amazing and not incredible you're toast. He'll kill your confidence for sure although he doesn't mean to. He's an awesome prof in class and offers help and tries to be nice when you fall asleep. The papers will kill your grade but the exams will save you. SAY STUFF IN CLASS!!!!
