Comment:
Elsa Nystrom was such a sweetheart. She's been teaching like, forever, and I was lucky enough to take her during her last semester teaching (Summer 2014). I think I wish she was my grandma or something. She tells great stories, makes history interesting, and I'm definitely sad I can't take her again.

I believe that this is Dr. Nystrom's last year, but she is an amazing professor. The lectures she gives are full of information and her assignments deal directly with the material. Wish I was a History major so I could have taken her more!

Great professor. Class is very straight forward. Test are short answer and essay format, but she gives an extensive study guide. If you study the guide youll do fine. She does give partial credit, so even if you dont know atleast try. Youll do fine. I highly recommend taking her class

Intro to Themes.. this was a joke class, grades were attendance, a couple of papers, and a big presentation as the final. The papers were long but easy, graded fairly for content and grammar. Presentation was 20 minutes long on a topic you pick, they were interesting. Class was basically her rambling about her life.. it was funny. Take her for sure

MOST BORING PROF EVER! Poor woman, not a good teacher. Goes off on tangents for the entire class about random things that have happened in her past. She SEEMS really easy until you get to a test. There is so much info never covered and she grades REALLY hard. She does give a (very long & not helpful) study guide which you better memorize to a tee.

Waste of time. She really loves Canada, but talks in tangents, and lectures are hardly that. The midterm was take home. Attendance was at 1st mandatory, but that didn't last to the 2nd week. If you do have to take this class, bring a computers or a book

Do not be fooled class is a joke. She seems really easy, UNTIL you get to the test. It is ridiculous. So much info, most of which she has never discussed. She does give a study guide, which is useless. I studied alot and am still failing. Asked for help and she wouldn't give it. Her lectures consist of her remininscing the 'good old days'. Useless.

Really sweet lady. The class dragged every now and then, but it wasn't too bad. As long as you go to class and pay attention you should be fine; reading wasn't completely necessary, but you might want to at least skim assigned chapters. She really knows what she's talking about. I'd definitely recommend her class.

She is an easy professor but you must go to class. Sometimes she will move up test dates! and not post it online. the final was take home and the other tests were short answer. she gives an extensive study guide. study that and u will make an easy A

Very easy. never bought book, just took notes. 4 tests straight from the notes, may need to use some online sources for terms on the study guide if you dont buy the book. Puts extra credit questions about her personal life story on each test, so go to class for this info. Got an A

HIST 2270 Very easy. Paper on a period newspaper, paper on an historical event, and presentation on "unsolved" Canadian mystery. No tests, so obviously no point in going to class or taking notes, but I went because she is a really interesting teacher as well as a very nice person. Got an A

Not easy professor like the other posts claim her to be. Exams are short answer and she does provide study guides, but also asks questions that are not on the study guide (when in doubt just guess because she does give partial credit). Exams are based on assigned readings, not lectures. Two six page book reviews due towards end of the semester.

Very sweet lady, we watch A LOT of videos, there is a presentation you have to do. she gives a study guide that is just like the midterm and the final was take-home with a second part you do in class. she also gives a really good study guide for the second part. i recommend. just take notes on her lectures so that you dont buy the book.

Professor Nystrom no longer provides study guides. Because the tests are essays, this particular class demands that you read the book. Her class lectures (and your attendance) minimally needed.

She is very nice, but not very challenging. She is left over from the era when KSU was a junior college. She is the last of the easy professors at KSU.

Dr. Nystrom is one of the nicest people you will meet at KSU. She works with adult students well that don't have a lot of time and energy for school. With a little effort you will get an A. If you are a serious student of history you will not learn anything new, and will benefit more by reading on your own.

Her test is essays, but she gives you a study guide and lets you choose what you want. The tests were reading, movies, and lectures. She's very approachable. My only gripe is that the content of the class was different stated topic of the class, but still interesting.
