Professor Abraham really knows a lot and is super passionate about music history, and it shows in his lectures. You have to write a big paper for the class, and he's really good at helping you find a topic you're interested in and finding good sources. Be careful though-- a lot of the work for the class comes at the end of the semester.

Wow lot of whining in this class -- what, have you never taken a 300 level class for majors? Prof. Abraham delivered 1000+ years of history vs 7 snow days. Lots of assignments, but tells you exactly what he expects. Powerpoints might be better but when he speaks directly about topics it was a great. Met with several time for paper help.

Granted he's disorganised but as long as you study and pay attention during class, you'll do well. I took Music History I with him and never received a score lower than 95%

Dan is a magnificent choral conductor and overall person. His rehearsals are always full of energy and pump you up musically. Definitely join the choir if you love music! I know the section I gave was for the chamber singer ensemble, but it goes the same for the big university chorus.

Nice guy, horrible class. 4 mandatory concert attendanaces, 1 paper, 2 presentations, midterm, final. Way too much work for a GEN ED. I was bored most of the time. If you have anything to do other than class, good luck finding time to do it.

All-around cool guy and excellent choral conductor. Good at letting you know where you stand in the performing arts totem pole without hurting anybody's feelings. Won't lie to you or to the group as a whole about how good you are, or aren't, but will always make you feel like you are making progress.

Coming from a background of crappy high school directors, this man is quite good. His music selection leaves a lot to be desired, and he does seem confused sometimes, but you know he loves his job. Very nice as well, always smiles at me in Katzen. It's not his fault that the choir's sort of small....

Clear, good, interested -- taught a very lofty course (mainly looking at the subject of criticism) and really examined how we make critical decisions. Good times. Do all the assignments or your grade will suffer. As long as you attend, take reasonable notes, and study some for the exams, it will be cool.

Great prof! Take any classes of his you can. He knows just about anything and everything music, and was extremely helpful and approachable at every point in the semester. Helpful in accomodating students schedules and always came to class with a smile which goes a LONG way. Fully recommend!
