Terrible prof. He was very egotistic and didn't really seem to care much about his students. His lectures were useless and almost impossible to understand. This class really turned me away from philosophy.

I loved his class, very interesting, although some of my classmates thought it was boring. lots of note taking needed and close to full attendance. but overall he's extremely intelligent, has a great dry sense of humour and knows what hes doing. i hope to have another class with him

When I first met Prof. Manning, I hated him! He started off by saying that we were all pretty much stupid. But as time goes on he grows on you. Very nice man, very intelligent, halarious, made phil not so bad. Long lectures, but goes over and over it if you don't understand. As long as you do the work, you will pass with flying colours.

Keeps class interesting by sarcastic commenting about American Politics and Christianity. You have to keep up with the readings, especially since their primary sources. He kind of just throws you in there and its up to you to figure it all out. If you need help go to his office hours, hes understanding with deadlines. Great to take if you like phil

He should have explained the philosophers more then he did. Very challenging and insensitive to those with religious beliefs. So funny though and an understanding prof, especially with deadlines. You'll leave his class and realize that you actually learnt something! Just make sure to do the readings!

Alright Manning's a cool guy but its wierd that he just SUMMARIZES his books in the middle of class and doesnt really explain much of the concepts to a much more interesting level. Worst thing ever: He likes to dimish people and their theories in front of the class. Saying that they are "Wrong" which kinda implies "Im right." Good, but not bad prof

He's terrible! I actually ended with a fairly good mark but I found that he's constant views didnt leave much room for anyone elses. Wasnt clear with his lectures and if i wanted the book read to me I wouldnt have paid that much money for his course. Marking is hard and material is worse! not recommended at all

This man doesn't get enough credit. Learning is all about being challenged! Manning is a great prof: he knows his stuff and is more than obliged to help if it's needed (and you aren't a total moron). Sure, he makes his classroom very much a 'sink or swim' environment...but if you can't swim, get out of the water! Kudos Manning.

I have only been to a few classes so far, he seems to jump around a lot, but if you read the material in advance and ask yourself some questions as to why it was written this way and perhaps how it was developed the material will be drenched (it is not so dry once you give it a chance) with basic fundamentals of "being"...
