Comment:
I enjoyed taking Avery's class. While the workload tended to be fairly heavy, he gave us lots of resources to help with the homework problems, and the homework was designed to prepare us for the tests. He was lenient on grading as long as the work met certain criteria; he tended to pay more attention to structure and format than correctness.

I took MATH342 online and it was very easy to follow. It is self paced and you can get done with it very fast if you want. You take a practice test before the exam and it has the same questions -diff numbers- on it for the exam but only half as many questions. He also drops 5 quiz scores. I thought this class was super easy. Easy A.

Has a weekly homework assignment that is graded based on correctness. Has powerpoints and few short lectures to explain material. I found it difficult to learn the content with such spare materials. Uses something like mathlab. He is accessible, tells you exactly what you'll be graded on, and does return feedback very quickly so that is nice.

When he is teaching math, he focuses heavily on terminology instead of actually teaching us how to work through a problem. Practice makes perfect. If he expects us to master how to do each problem, practice with us in class. Otherwise, I'm happy writing down how you did it and doing it the exact same way, never truly learning anything.

Took him for Abstract Algebra. He has some good short videos on practice questions but I wish that he did lecture videos; we had to look through power points and essentially teach ourselves. He is knowledgeable and gives a lot of feedback for homework. There's about an assignment every week and you have to write proofs the whole time FYI.

Professor Avery is a great professor. He understands his students are busy and don't have time to do math every day. The pace of his online course was one assignment every other day. He gives you a schedule you should stay on track with because if you fall off track, then it will be hard to catch up. Provides plenty of help to prepare for exams.

This teacher is amazing. He really understands that people taking online classes need to have flexibility. He gives due dates for assignments a month in advance to help you have time to prepare and is really understanding if something happens that you can't take the test on the days he wants you to.

I took MATH 341 online with Avery, so I don't know how he is in class. Though it was online, he always sent emails with updated information and was there to help you and answer any questions! The class was self-paced, but he offered anything and help whenever you needed!

Dr Avery's classes are fast paced. He rewards hard work. Very helpful with questions outside of class. Can use notes on test. Homework was 30% of the overall grade. Tests were well represented in homework assignments, so if you do homework, you should have at least an idea of what is going on test. Nice guy, as well.

A lot of the grade in this course is determined by how well you do on his assignments, and there are a lot of them to complete, but if you'd rather take geometry then calculus, this is the course to take. Even if your answer is wrong, he will still assign a good amount of partial credit if you show your work and thought process.

He's a great guy! You don't even need to go to class and can still get an A! Let's you use notes on test. Everything is online and you'll do great on the exams If you write down the pre exam in your notes before the test.

I took precalc with Avery. Not sure on the actual section number. But I really enjoyed it. He opens everything for tests/assignments/quizzes on the first day and allows you to work at your own pace. Attendance isn't mandatory and he is always very willing to help with any question. Great guy!

Works very quickly and all assignments, quizzes, and tests are done online and you have unlimited tries on the homework and quizzes. He lets you use notes on the tests, but they are still tough because he teaches from a powerpoint.
