Shes a fantastic prof. Really cares about her students. The course load is a lot and if u havent done music before it takes a lot of time to really grasp these concepts. Especially online. Great prof, rough class. She also forces participation and there are SO MANY assignments

I loved this class! It is very work heavy, but Bente always has a way to make it easy for you. She always replies fast to emails, and is really helpful with all the questions that you may have.

I love the MUSI course options at the UofL BUT stay clear of this prof it's not worth your time. Course material is DRY DRY DRY she reads straight off of her slides. For a class being so heavily reliant on attendance, I never learned anything. She's stubborn, unwilling to be accommodating and completely full of herself.

Bente might be the most stubborn professor at the university, while she knows her music very well, she will never be wrong about anything she says... Treats the students like we are all naive and will never be as good as her. I wouldnt take her again

Bente was a solid prof. You will be graded on 3 concert reports, 1 midterm, moodle discussions, attendance, and perception tests. You have to sit through some boring concerts once a week and do extensive research on composers for the report. The grading for the reports could be a little clearer, and the marking can be a little tough too.

An amazing professor. She is the best theory Professor, and I went in with absolutely no experience and now I can write a full 32 bar piece of theoretically correct music.

Attendance is very important as you have to attend concert recitals for this class to write three concert reports. Bente is hilarious and will tell you what she expects for every assignment. She provides good feedback, so you can do better on the next concert report. I find the perception tests somewhat difficult, but music is not my major.

Bente is outstanding!!! She makes you feel as if you belong even if you're struggling. She is always there to answer a question or explain something in multiple ways. Her humour is great and her class sizes tend to be small so there is one on one time throughout the class.

It's an absolute privilege to be in Bente's class and I looked forward to her lectures every MWF. Not only is she a great lecturer but she's a music theory genius and has a million and one ways to explain something. Note; if your phone goes off in class, SHE WILL ANSWER IT! Also; ask her to write her name backwards and forwards simultaneously. :3

Bente wanted her students to succeed. I had never taken Theory before in my life, but I understand it as well as those who have their Grade 10 RCM theory after one semester. She is interested in building relationships with her students, and learns/remembers your name. She is a fair marker, and the assignments and tests are easy if you take notes!

Very knowledgeable, tries to explain things in any way that we need in order to get it. is strict, but fair. expects that we are there to learn. is always willing to help. does not use trick questions, ever! is up front with expectations. tells us ahead of time about possible exam questions so we know exactly what to study. wants us to succeed.

Bente was an awesome prof! She kept the material interesting, and I loved that she played piano in class. The tests are straight forward and very easy if you study hard (make sure to know the things that she says to star in your notes). Easy A and a fun course as well!

Hilarious prof! If you can, try and take both of her Rock n' Roll classes back to back, they're really fun! Her tests are all consistent and it's very clear what will be on them, but they are kind of tough. Overall, highly recommended - one of the funnest night classes I've ever had!

History of RnR is an awesome class if you're interested in the subject. Bente is an interesting character, but I think she's awesome and find her very entertaining. The tests aren't a walk in the park though. They require a lot of study time to do well because there is a lot of information. But if you're prepared for the tests, you'll do fine.

Bente is awesome!!! She made everything so much more solid so that when I had to start taking classes with the other teachers I was prepared and sure of what I was doing. Smartest, most talented lady I know. BTW she knows more than most music teachers WITH doctorates so don't judge, she's brilliant
