She is a really nice woman. The class is good, at times a little boring but that has nothing to do with her teaching style, it's the material itself. She is very enthusiastic and the class is interactive. I enjoyed the class. There is a lot of reading but it was useful. Tests are difficult if you don't study/pay attention. I'd take her again.

Ridiculously hard grader despite preaching new forms of teaching in her class. Teaching style is so sporadic. She doesnt know her technology but insists on using powerpoint and the internet often. Textbook is useless. Class is so superficial. Hard to get an A. Comes off as easily approachable but in reality she just plays favorites

Nice woman, boring material, her teaching style is all over the place (which is usually good but it didn't work for me in this class), semi-harsh grading, and either ridiculously hard or super easy tests. You never know what to study, so I didn't study. That said, Dr. Gowie is pretty helpful if you need outside career or class guidance.

This class made me second guess becoming a teacher. Dr. Gowie is a very nice lady but she gives out meaningless assignments and grades way too difficultly. The class is very boring and I found it difficult to get motivated to even go to class.

Comment:

Best Education teacher that I have taken at Siena so far! She is so helpful and so genuine. She sometimes gets off on a tangent, but has so much real world experience that her stories make you extremely excited about becoming a teacher. We also read great books like Harry Potter and Stargirl. She relates childrens readings to our future classrooms.

she's a little wacky but it makes class fun..you can grade your own test and they are so easy to begin with..one group project which is veryy easily graded..the only way you could do badly is if you don't go to class..she's a really nice women and loves to teach and it makes you want to too..definitely take her class

This class is ok. She's very boring but nice at the same time. Studying for tests can be a pain because she does not tell you what exactly is on the test, notes in class can be very disorganized. Tests are a small part of your grade, and student led class/ participation is a huge part of the grade. Just do the work and you'll be ok.

Very easy, pulls weird stuff on tests.. grades on a curve, don't have to do much at all, just always participate. She's knowledgeable but a little boring.. VERY lenient, let's kids make decisions. Don't take her if you REALLY want to learn education...
