Comment:
Professor Vanstone was great. She was thoughtful and kind during lectures. She is a fair marker. Put in the effort to finish assignments and it's an easy B in the course. Just be prepared, you read 1 book every 2 weeks. And not common Canadian books, like really obscure new ones not at libraries.

Simply a top three professor I've had at York University. Cannot recommend a 3000+ level elective more. Show up to class, do the readings, and participate, and you will get an A. She is so caring and also gives great feedback on assignments. On film wikis and the final exam, be sure to use quotes from the readings and videos discussed in class!!

A soft spoken sweetheart. She is understanding, intelligent and kind. She always has a helping hand. Complete your weekly readings, go to class and participate and you will finish the class with an A. There are weekly journals and one essay at the end of the year but there are no exam or tests in this course.

By far the best prof I've had so far! She's endearing, understanding, knowledgeable and insightful. She goes with the flow and is very accomodating. Speaking your mind in class will go a long way with her. Go to class, do the readings, go on the trips and you should easily get an A in this course.

Had her for Canadian writers in Person when it was offered through Atkinson. Great prof appreciated extra effort put into the personal journal in adding books that were to be read after journal was due and brig creative with the journal by adding pictures from front cover of book read during year or substituting another picture if no picture on book. Essay are easy. Easy A in course

This book list for this course is excellent! However, the prof. is a little on the flighty side but, is a fair marker. I liked meeting all the authors and it really gave you the feeling that Canadian literature need not be boring.

She may have been intouch with her students but she was always late and always disorginized. Getting ahold of her outside of class was a nightmare, she rarely answered email and phone calls were not returned for almost 48 hours. She did make the material intresting.

By far the most wonderful professor to join York University. Not only is she a brilliant woman, but she also encompasses a wonderful grace & approachable nature. I've been lucky enough to have her as a prof 3 times. If you can be sure to have a class w/ her b4 you grad. She has so much to offer!
