I took his precalc class online and I don't think he realized that it was a precal class. He gave us linear algebra problems and things that we shouldn't be doing until we're deep in the calculus series. Its hard and there's no textbook to help. He throws random questions on the quizzes that weren't part of the video lectures so you had to guess.

I really love Prof Marquez as a person. He's so sweet and funny. However, Calc 3 was very hard and his lectures don't go very in depth and there's no textbook to help. His grading system is lenient- but the bulk of it is HW (take home quizzes) which are VERY HARD. You have to do most of the learning on your own as the lectures don't cover the HW.

I took his full spring semester online and it wasn't too bad. He drops the lowest quiz and exam, and his quizzes always have extra credit opportunities. His lectures he posts are pretty funny and well though out.

Javier is so cool. He is always in office hours and cares about his students understanding the material. He is transparent with the class, and in one of my calc classes with him, he liked us so much, he bought us pizza lol such a good guy i highly recommend you meeting and giving a try in math. loved daabz his page. do his quizzes and youll get anA

If you're used to boring math classes. wait no longer. Professor Marques is hilarious and passionate about what he does. He has a way of inspiring you to want to learn math. First math class I EVER enjoyed taking. After his class I've appreciated Math a lot more. Do not on hesitate on taking his class, you won't regret it.

Prof. Marques is probably the best professor I've taken yet. He really helps you understand the material and really helps you succeed. If you really put the time into his class and not just do the bare minimum, you can for sure get an A. I recommend to all!

The guy is amazing as hell!! Such a nice and caring individual. I never worked so hard and made so many friends in one semester like this. Everyday was a joy to go to Calculus and see all the support for math! I went to his office hours all the time and he always would be there. I liked his online daabz and videos so I could practice what I forgot!

He told us that his job as a professor is a hobby for him. He's not a bad teacher it's just that he teaches very differently and good luck getting tutors to help you because he makes up his own problems. Most of the time he's not very clear and skips over a lot stuff in problems (which doesn't help because you need to know your algebra!)

He really knows his stuff and can explain what he teaches very well, but he gives so many unnecessary problems that are difficult. A standard class has sections with basic exercises that show you know the material, but his class makes it so that even if you know the material you won't be able to solve his exercises (which he makes errors on too).

very passionate about teaching and lectures are fun and entertaining. Not your typical math professor. 4 exams including a final which can be dropped, tons of extra credit, quizzes are hard but he helps out in office hours and is always willing to stay after lecture to work any math problem. exams are sometimes based on daabz so do them all.

This is probably the most passionate professor at Mesa. Calc is all about understanding the basics and DABS(his own website) will teach you them. When you get stuck, he is always at his office hours and there to help. This guys deserves to be paid way more than he brags about.

Where else can you have access to a PhD every afternoon for help? He also has a unique way of teaching. Uses online flash cards to help learn the rules of calculus. I am now taking my fourth class from Dr. Marques.

if the world were filled with Professors like this, there would be no one to work at 7-11 anymore. Unless of course, if they wanted to... which Dr Marquez would come in for Americanos and talk about math. he gives all his materials away for free, but you will want to pay for them anyway.

Dr. Marquez really wants his students to succeed so he is very helpful and clear and overall a really nice professor. If he teaches Calculus II, I would take him again- amazing professor! Just study hard and go to his office hours whenever you have questions or stay after class and you will do great.

I've beg all my friends to take Dr Marquez. Made me love math. I now think of creative math problems in my head. Gives all course materials for free. class lectures are very dynamic. extremely funny. tests are so hard. Definitely find a partner early and work on the weekly quizzes together, if you do that you can easily get an A. Grade is made up of basically online hw (easy), weekly online quizzes (easy), and 4-5 in class tests (challenging). Be ready to experience a whole different style of learning because he is the definition of unconventional

so much good to say, this man will change the way the country learns math if he can ever stop his coding errors. Now that we have moved on to Calculus 3 without him, we still go back and watch his lectures.
