Comment:
Jill demands an extreme amount from you. The reading load and work to go with can be awfully heavy. However, these demands are because of her belief in your potential as a student. Jill is kind, funny, engaging and incredibly knowledgable with Romanticism and the historical period. Her classes are difficult but some of the best I have ever taken.

I took Dr. Heydt-Stevenson's class in my freshman year at C.U. She made me want to learn, want to write, want to work my way through difficult texts. Her class changed my view of education and made me a passionate learner. She isn't easy, but if you want to be challenged and intellectually stimulated, there's nobody better at C.U.

If you are taking her for grad-level, she's probably great, but if you're an undergrad, steer clear. She doesn't tell you what you're supposed to do and changes her mind a lot. She assigns a lot of dense reading and long papers on it and isn't very descriptive as to what you need to do to get an a on assignments.

Jill is hands down the best prof I?ve ever had DO NOT take her class thinking it?ll be an easy A b/c she?s also the most difficult prof I?ve ever had. Exceedingly intelligent. 110% willing to help. Class is very interesting, but you have to pull your own weight ? she will call you out if you?re zoning out. Her excellent classes are NOT FOR SLACKERS

Jill is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is remarkably intelligent, and her approach to literature is fresh and exciting. She does require that you work hard, but it's definitely worth the effort. She gets an A+ from me!

Easily the worst professor I have ever had. She does not stay on topic (her views on radical feminism takes over every class), she is insulting and her class is not intellectually challenging in any way, although there is a lot of tedious work. Avoid.

I am also a graduate student. I love classes but I loathe her course. I feel that as a whole the material that she's teaching is completely uninteresting. When a student tries to put a different angle on the work outside of fashion, romanticism, etc., she doesn't seem interested in listening. She's big into criticizing over helpfulness.

I am also a graduate student who just took a course from Jill and I found her to be a wonderful teacher. My guess is this person was a terrible student or didn't produce great work and is therefore lashing out on this anonymous website. Jill can be tough, but only because she expects you to do your job. She is one of the best.

I am a graduate student who just took the professor, and I found her to be unclear, insulting, and quite phony. I would not take her again nor would I recommend her to other graduate students.

Comment:
Her course on Jane Austen was the best course I took in the English Department! She is also very nice even though she is clearly super intelligent. No pretention here (which we all know is the common trait of English professors)
