Learned to have faith and courage in myself, make better decisions that assisted me in moving out of an abusive marriage. Accessible to students on personal evel. I went on to receive BSN and MSM, still working 40 years later never forgot her, I had newborn and 4 other kids at the time. I authored 2 books, made her small velvet flower paintings.

This was a while back, I took this class at SC4, while getting a secondary teaching certificate at University of Michigan (Flint). I had a BS degree from Michigan State University, so was experienced with classes. I thought this was a great class, Mrs. Flickinger showed great interest had very relevant stories.

Very smart. She knows her stuff but she can get off topic sometimes. No doubt that you will fall asleep during lecture but a little effort and you will do fine.

Rambles on and on and on .... . She repeatedly does not actually teach, but recounts cute little stories that have nothing to do with anything. She is a problematic example of the mediocre rising to the top.

Seriously this woman couldnt teach with out the invention of Power Point. In reality she doesnt teach, she reads to you like youre illiterate! If you can, take this class with someone that has a brain and can stay on topic.

If you are taking this class you must PAY ATTENTION! Do the work, and don't wait to do the projects. Read the book and you'll do great. Started out with a C- after the first test.Caught on to what she was looking for on the tests and ended up with an A. She gives extra credit for easy stuff, too, like note cards. Do not be intimidated.

She has something against single mothers, which I found very offensive since my mother was and my sister is a single mom. She makes them sound like criminals. She assigns lots of projects and complains about how hard her life is. Boo-hoo, traffic in Port Huron, waaaa. Try driving around in Detroit or Ann Arbor, lady, then complain.

I liked her class. There was alot of reading that only went towards 20 questions on the test.Memorization of terms is key.Look at her notes and makeup questions she might ask,it helps .Memorize the questions she gives you.She helps when you have a question. But a lot of personal stories!

I loved this class! Her teaching style worked for me. In my case, she was very approachable and helpful with any questions. She might not be willing to help if you do slack off in class. Loved her! Would take her for any other PSY class!

avoid her, she tells way too many personal stories, lectures clash with the information in the book so you might as well not buy it, I didn't use it

I really enjoyed her class. I think that you have to understand her teaching style to do well in the class. Although I felt her stories helped me to memorize the material. Most of her tests are based on lectures. Really liked her.

Comment:
Tests required near word for word regurgitation of lecture material...which occasionally conflicted with book material. Far too many personal stories and opinions in place of legitimate information. Very unapproachable and demeaning when questioned.
