I liked Professor Mackey! There was a lot of material covered in the class, and lectures weren't very interesting. He tells you what you need to study. He tells you what to read. If you follow his reading assignments you should have no trouble getting an A! Tests were tricky but if you really know the material you should know the correct answers.

Dr. Mackey is a character, but terrible at teaching. I have 200 hours undergrad experience. I'm a licensed paramedic and I'm very familiar with anatomy. But he tears apart tests because you "gave too much information" or "failed to specify that the artery you named was an artery." His nickel and dime grading is disheartening. Curved the class to Bs

Bottom line: You can make an A in this course. Dr. Mackey is unhelpful, uninterested, and should not be teaching, but it doesn't mean the information is not provided to you. To make an A, read EVERY chapter and know it like the back of your hand, take good lectures notes and review them, and attend open lab to know EACH model and slide.

Human anatomy is a hard class. Dr. Mackey isint a bad teacher but I did see the students in my class had bad habits. They study very little,late to class,had full schedules. Honestly this teacher give u a book with what to study for lab practicals, and for lecture read the book and the go over ur notes. Expect to study at least 20 hrs a week.

Worst teacher ever....contradicts book constantly so he basically lectures false information sometimes and will avoid adressing it if you mention something. Grading it absurd seems to just depend on his mood, tests are not usually over lectures material b/c "if it's in the book its fair game" and lectures are incredibly dry sounds like ben stein.

BAD. Unclear grading. He contradicts the text book constantly! Never taught in lab. Class is unorganized. He seems to go out of his way to be tricky overall. Very UNCLEAR. Lab book is laughable. The lectures are at a furious pace but are very important because he contradicts the book so much. Never had such a horrible prof. NOOO to Mackey!

I have taken classes at 3 universities and Mr. Mackey still ranks as the absolute worst professor I have ever had. I do not know why he bothers to show up to class. He doesn't care about teaching or you learning the material. His test questions are not clear and he will not explain why you put the wrong answer. Fair warning.

I really liked Mr. Mackey. I though he was an interesting character. Now Mackey is tough,and you will hate him most of the time, the other raters explain why But I believe his teaching method is to let students know what is to come. He gives you a reality check when it comes to the fact that you have to work really hard to what you want to achieve.

I have a BA from a university and this is the worst professor I have ever had. He did not teach anything, I had to learn everything from the textbook. You have to learn everything! Would give incorrect information sometimes and would not correct himself if wrong. I would never suggest taking him. Wait for another professor.

course requires ALOT of studying but im pretty sure thats true for all physio classes. his tests are hard but not unreasonable, the hardest thing is knowing what to study: alot of material is covered and he gives no hints for what to focus on. dont know if he curves yet sure hope so. take this class alone if possible requires ALOT

prof Mackey is the worse instructor i ever had in my whole life. He is not helpful, doesn't smile,he leaves you to do the lab by your self i ended up dropping his class. I didn't uderstand his pronunciations. Infact he doesn't teach, you teach your self in his class.

Mackey is disparaging to students, can be misleading when answering questions & rarely corrects himself if he misspeaks, a common occurrence. Lab/lecture material is disorganized, some diagrams are illegible & typos are common. Anatomy is hard work, but can be FUN! For a strong foundation, take someone else. His classroom climate is miserable.

I took him for Anatomy. In short, he does not teach. If you take him you'll teach yourself EVERYTHING. I made an A, but his course ruled my life for the semester. He does curve (if necessary). He wasn't available for office hours. It seems like he hates his job. He hates to answer questions. I recommend taking a different professor!!!

I took the 5.5 week summer course with him prior to finding his reviews on this website and to my horror, most of the bad comments were correct. It seems as though he spends the first two weeks weeding out students - I think 1/3 of my class dropped out. He seemed to play favoritism so if you weren't on his list, forget about help.

There is a reason he has horrible ratings, DO NOT take him. When I dropped the class, there were only 8 students left out of 30. He does not teach and expects you to learn from the book. He also makes you mark out things in the book because he claims it is incorrect. He does not want to be there and he punishes his students for it. Take Juarez!

Seriously, have some respect! He's a nice guy...maybe he's a bit awkward but who isn't to some degree. The info is all there in black and white. He may be old school when it comes to study habits and lecturing but who really expected to take a biology class and sail through it without sweating a little. I took him as a last resort and ended up LOVING the class! If I told other people that I was taking his class people seemed to gasp in horror! BUT.. I found him very kind and actually helpful. He can be a little confusing in lecture but if you READ the book before EVERY lecture you will be ok.

LOVED this class. Took it during the summer session, and it is VERY intense, but I learned alot, and Mackey if very fair. As far as the failing a test issue in the previous comment, he gives 2 make up tests at the end of the year that are cake. If you study, you will do great! He is difficult to warm up to, but after that he is extremely helpful.

This is a UT level course peeps. Not easy and not fun unless you enjoy self flagellation. He will help you...if you're trying. He will not just give you the answer. You will learn how to study. You will fail more than one exam. If you try hard and stick to the end, you will be surprised by the curve. Remember, ACC has a top health care program
