Comment:
Dr. French was extremely rude and unhelpful when asking questions. Her marking rubric was very unclear for the assignments and was told to go to the writing centre to get clearer instructions. I had mentioned of the fact that I read the discussion board, her pointers and the rubric multiple times and still needed clarifications but she refused.

Comment:
Prof. French is one of the best professors in UofT. She was kind, accessible outside class, lectures were very straightforward with great slides. PSL201 was enjoyable (but not easy!), generous in terms of grades (couple of extra points) and grading: only 3 out of 4 midterms count for the final grade, so I didn't have to take the final test.

I love her so much you guys, PSL190 was actually the best course I took in first year. It was a HUGE learning curve, and not a bird course by any means, but it's so worth it. She's understanding and flexible, but will push you! If you're a first year considering taking PSL190, do it. You will not regret it at all.

If you have space, take PSL190. Best course ever with its small class size. It taught me so much about the fundamentals of biomedical research and Prof French is so nice. Her office hours were super helpful and she's really understanding.

Her section of PSL (blood and immunity) was the easiest one. She explains everything really clearly, goes slowly and reinforces main ideas throughout her lectures. Going to lectures and taking notes is important for understanding concepts.

One of the best and most knowledgeable professors you can have in the first year. The small class size really helped every single student.

One of the most caring and sophisticated teachers we've ever had. Very approachable outside of class. Materials could be super hard (for a 1st yr) at the beginning, but she goes over them step by step. DON'T SKIP any lectures & go to her office hour! Otherwise you ll end up understanding only 50% of this course... Highly recommend.

Prof. French is the best professor you'll meet as a life science student. She cares about her students well-being (both mental and physical). She inspired me to become an athlete (tho I'm ametuer at that). She's always striving to make lectures fun and does education research on the side, always trying out new ways to teach (effective too!)

Prof French was fantastic. She clearly cared about getting to know her students and was very accessible outside of class. When material became overwhelming, she carefuly explained it until everyone understood. Can't wait to have her in PSL301.

You can tell she loves teaching this course. Very thankful I decided to take it. Material could get confusing but she was very good to stop and answer every class question. Take this course! Very personable and wants to get to know everyone. Great first year atmosphere. Easy to get a good mark if you put the work in.

Overall amazing prof! She is very clear in her instructions and bases her exams off lecture slides; the textbook only need be used for explanation if you're confused. I would highly recommend taking any class she teaches: her instruction is a safe bet!

My favourite Professor in all 4 years of my university experience. I had 4 classes with her in total and she's kind, helpful and personal. She even helped me in other courses! Prof French is also fair in material and tests, so you have to do the work but it's not extremely hard! She is also very helpful prior to tests!

Comment:
She likes to keep things easy at the start of the course to get good review/teaching awards. The final has been _significantly_ harder than the rest of the course in both courses I've taken from her. A very cheap move for those of us trying to get in to med school.
