This prof. Class strengthened me as a CS major and also a student. I feel that I earned my grade and she gives a clear criteria of how to earn your grade. She wasnt the easiest grader, but still forgiving. I didnt connect with her that much so I wouldnt take her again but it was a great class to put time into and I learned a lot and am thankful

Great professor, always upbeat as well. There's actually a lot of homework that builds on itself over time, so really try to not get behind at all, and there are certain assignments that you must get perfectly correct or else it becomes impossible to do the next projects after it.

Dr. Yoshii is a nice and caring professor, to the point where we could even contact her for future questions and advice in CS. Her homework assignments are time consuming, though essential for future reference. Exercises were do able, though it's a good idea to get a partner. Would recommend if you want strengthen yourself in CS.

She is very passionate & encourages students to email her if they have any questions about their CS career. Online class was well organized and designed so that you could work ahead and ask questions ahead of time.

Professor Yoshii is incredible. All course materials (aside from the final) were accessible from the start of class and attendance to lecture wasn't mandatory as all lectures were pre-recorded. She explains material well and is quick to respond to emails. Beyond that, she also inspires & encourages students to discuss our futures with her.

Professor Yoshii is the sweetest professor in the whole department. The class was pretty easy as long as you do all the assignments and come to class. She will give you the materials you need and its your responsibility to learn everything you're provided. Don't miss class, she has one question assignments before the end of each class.

She is one of the nicest professors at the college. She is always happy and upbeat. But her classes are way too easy. Almost all of the code needed is in the powerpoints. You don't need to study for anything, no final, and the homework aren't too often and answers are in the powerpoint.

Yoshii is super funny, very straightforward with grading, and consistent in due dates. That said, I got an A- in this class and I'm not exactly sure if I learned anything. So uh, mixed feelings about her. Her notes are difficult to navigate, but if you really study them then you'll be okay.

Comment:
She's great in 311 but the complete opposite in 421. Hieroglyphic notes and homework assignments because she tries to do everything (including diagrams) with ascii characters. Contents overlap with 351 greatly. Poor feedback on the hw. Videos barely explain the concepts. And she forces you to go visit her even though it's and ONLINE course.

Comment:
Should not be teaching. If you use any sort of logic from discrete math (a required lower div) that she doesn't understand she just marks it wrong without trying to follow along. This means that you have to specifically memorize her sub-par formulas letter for letter. Then for coding hw you have to follow her terrible spaghetti code templates. -_-

I can hardly call this an online class. Professor Yoshii requires students to show up in person to form groups and work on group projects at her designated time and place. The lecture videos and notes are filled with useless distractions such as playing the drums, or clipart of a talking dog. Overall, the class felt very disorganized.

You get all the material you are going to cover right at the very start so you will always have the notes, homework and grade spreadsheet. Print out the notes for that day before class or read them before to help yourself out. She responds quickly to any questions and is one of my favorite CS professors here.

Most of her grading consisted on the homework and attending lecture, so make sure to go to class. She replied to emails right away so that was good. Print out notes before hand because she goes a little fast

Yoshii is an alright teacher. She does help students outside of class, but she is a little disorganized and her instructions on the group project we had to do were a little scatter brained. She doesn't do any tests or quizzes though, and she randomly gives out candy every now and then, which is nice!

Although it is probably the easiest CS class at CSUSM, if you really pay attention and try to do the assignments yourself you will learn a great deal in her class. Put some effort into learning all the stuff from this class as these topics will are very common in job interviews.

Rika is hilarious. Her lectures are good, she goes over problems on the board with the students. Homework's quite light and she helps you out a lot. Final's worth 30% so it could hurt you or help you big time. Her notes really really help you to do the homework. Would take her again

She is a really easy grader as long as you follow the directions. Likes to tell funny stories. The assignments are easy since she gives you most of the code and one take home final. The final is easy since the answers are in her notes. She wants you to pass but also wants you to understand the material. You don't need the book.

Professor Yoshii is a fantastic professor. I would even argue that she's the best CS professor at CSUSM. She is helpful, concise, and thoughtful. CS 311 wasn't a particularly difficult course. The structure was that it had an assignment per week, and a take home final. There is extra credit opportunity, and she grades reasonably easy. Enjoy!

Comment:
Way too easy. Data Structures and Algorithms is the most important topic in a CS degree, and this class barely does it justice. If you don't get an A in this class, it's only because you are incredibly lazy.
