Comment:

People don't like Mr. Whaley because he expects you to put effort into your work, but if you show up and pay attention, you will have fun and learn a lot. I went to Baker 5 years ago and ended up transferring, and there are still times where I'm genuinely sad that I'm not taking his classes anymore, because he's such a sweet, brilliant man.

If you look past his conceitedness, he's a decent teacher. Sometimes I feel as if he was trying to set up us (the students) for failure. His lectures are sometimes enjoyable, but sometimes they can also get a little boring. On the bright side, he usually has candy for his students! Would probably take his course again, but I'm glad I don't have to.

Overall a pleasure to be in biochemistry. Majority was online as the quizzes were based off of the material given to you. If you put forth an effort you will do just fine in this course. Very easy going but any laziness will show. Excellent teacher and very understanding as well as helpful. Highly recommended.

I had him for 4 classes and he is one of the best instructors I have had in my 4 years at Baker. I met with him on office hours many times and he was very helpful! Others don't like him because he actually makes you work for your grades, which will only help you in the long run.

I had Mr. Whaley for 4 classes: A&P 1&2, Patho, and Chem. He is a hard grader, you have to put all of your effort in to his classes or you wont do well. I did not really like him for A&P, but he was a great teacher for Patho and Chemistry. If you do not try in the class or you are disrespectful, than he will not be nice to you- simple as that.

His teaching methods are terrible. If you learn well with someone rambling on and going on random tangents, this is your guy. Definitely pompous as can be and his lectures don't cover the tests. I have had to retake both sections of a&p with him. Retaking it with another semester with a 90% if that tells you anything. Do not recommend

Pretty good teacher. Very smart and lectures are interesting. The negatives are that he talks really fast and tests are graded based on memorizing and spitting out exactly what he says during lecture. It was hard to write fast enough and he will mark an entire question wrong on a test if you have one word different than what he said.

Loved him as a professor. He is great at making sure the material is covered. I thought he was great at providing examples that will help us remember the material as well. I recommend him to any student.

Not a fan. He is extremely egotistical as others have said. He teaches one way, then tests another. Way to difficult for an A&P ONE class. He is not helpful and LOVES to drop your points just because he thinks it's necessary.

From being in the medical field for so many years, his lectures are completely inconsistent with what is learned in med term. Tests only on "his" notes, which are not fact.. Says "chole" means cholesterol... He doesn't know what he is talking about and his grammar is horrible. His word is God, if u question him, your grade will DROP. WORST EVER...

Not a good teacher. Very egotistical. Does not care if you comprehend what he is teaching cares that you can repeat back verbatim what he lectures. Very boring, monotonous lectures unless someone irritates him. Has favorite students, assists students according to those personality preferences.

Mr. Whaley ROCKS! He is great at explaining things in a simple way. Lecture is interesting and goes by fast. If you study what he gives you, you will do great on the tests. He is easy to talk to and not to mention easy on the eyes :)

His tests do not accurately measure a student's learning. An answer may be correct and given according to how the text of the book explained it, but Mr. Whaley will mark points off for not writing the answer in the wording he used during lecture. He will do this to the point that your grade is greatly diminished.

I have had Prof. Whaley two other times. I think he does much better teaching this class. All tests are written, but I actually found that easier. You have to study but I found the class very interesting and he is very helpful if you have questions. As long as you aren't one of THOSE people that need something repeated over and over he is great!

Surprised he hasn't broke an arm patting himself on the back. Very large ego that needs to be stroked. Does not grade the same with each person. Tests are 100% written with the correct answer being his wording and whether or not he likes you. So glad to be done with his class.
