Only recourses you can use for your papers are the lectures she assigned (2 per a week, each 1 hour) and the readings which are pages and pages. Only 5 papers and participation and the prompts are sometimes hard to understand. Wouldnt take her class again.

grades very few things so it is hard to make up for a poor grade. Lots of outside of class learning but great at answering any and all questions when you need help. Very passionate about history but it can get confusing when there are topic jumps that she knows about but students might not.

When the online transition occurred the quizzes were removed making both the midterm and final half each of the total grade and participation would be extra credit. However, barely talked about the actual civil war despite the course description saying otherwise.

Midterm and final are both essays around 10 pages. No other assignments but if you participate she'll bump your grade up. Classes are heavily discussion based, she calls on everybody so do the readings, its a lot sometimes but doable. When we switched to online classes she didn't change the class at all and expected the same kind of participation.

Christine is the best! She really cares about the students and wants all of us to succeed. The only grades are 2 really long papers and participation. Definitely attend class and take good notes. Participation is definitely encouraged and keeping up with the readings is helpful. Not a very tough grader. A hard class, but an A is very possible!

She is one of the nicest people you will meet. Her lectures are so entertaining and she always makes sure that everyone is understanding what she is saying. Couple pop quizzes but they usually come after any reading we had the night before ( there aren't many). Definitely so nice and definitely worth taking the class to fill a requirement.

Christine (what she likes to be called) is a great professor. However, the difficulty of history152 is heavily based upon the TA. If you get Jeff Appelhans as a TA TAKE A DIFFERENT COURSE! He is a very tough grader and this will not be an "easy A."

Professor Heyrman is a great professor. She is truly passionate about history & made the material very interesting. Mostly lectures w/occasional discussions on assigned readings (short books, no typical textbook). Easy multiple choice pop quizzes every week or so. Midterm, final, paper, & quizzes make up your grade. Take this if you can!

Best history professor! She facilitates a fantastic discussion that always makes students think deeper. I was alway excited for class! That being said, there is a lot of reading. You will need all of the books! Grading is: 3 papers (2 for midterm, 1 for final) and participation (each 33%). Hope to take her class again! Awesome course & professor!

Professor Heyrman is an all-around perfect history professor. Her lectures are very easy to follow and her quizzes and exams do not contain any surprises. She is also very funny in class and interesting to be around. I would definitely consider taking another one of her classes.

One of the best professors on campus. Going to class is essential, but her interesting lectures will definitely make it worth your while. No textbook, just a selection of a bunch of different books and online readings. Be prepared to read /a lot/, and be prepared to discuss. Only bad thing is no exams, just two very long papers.

Prof. Heyrman was a great professor! She was very enthusiastic about the topic but she assigns like 6 novels to read in place of a textbook. I managed to get through them all and skimmed one of them and did fine. Really pay attention to her lectures though as you may miss a lot of material if you zone out.

Took this for a second writing and did nothing extra, just met with her to talk about my writing. A lot of reading, five 5 page papers, and a lot of discussion in class. If you take good notes and write well you'll do fine. She's really understanding and helpful. Great teacher.

She basically just lectures every class and you have to try your best to write down whatever you hear. She doesnt really use electronics so nothing is ever posted online. You have to read a novel every week and have a quiz on fridays which sucks, Her exams are mostly essays but she lets you use your notes.

Heyrman is an amazing professor. Her expectations of reading and participation are intimidating, but GO TO CLASS- she's brilliant and makes the material interesting. Not only that, she's really encouraging and willing to help you understand any points of confusion. Detailed notes of lecturesdiscussions will help a TON with 2 essay tests.

Professor Heyrman is such an amazing professor. She cares about her students and makes US History so much more interesting. She engages the class by reading about 5 or 6 novels and not a boring textbook. She also understands that we are going through alot and makes the class college-leveled but as easy as possible for you to pass. YOU MUST TAKE HER

She is SO knowledgable and will learn everyone's names. She is the sweetest woman and really wants you to obtain the material and will clarify anything you ask. I strongly suggest her. 2 open note exams and one 5 page paper, not bad at all.

this class was harrrrd! thought it was going to be easy because of the comments but jeesh, no way! prof is SO smart and knows so much, but just incredibly difficult to follow in lectures, especially because she rambles so much... quizes in discussion every week are pretty tough too... got a B in the class, but have no idea how... I don't agree with most of these comments, and neither does anyone I know in this class. She's a good teacher but the quizzes every Friday are HARD. Average score for the class is usually a 6 or 7 out of 10. Midterm seemed okay, but I ended up getting a C and so did all my friends. I'll probably get a B- when I thought it would be an easy A..

Took the honors section, definitely recommend it because it's the best way for her to get to know you personally. Great lectures and discussions, she clearly knows everything about the time period and she cares a great deal. Easy grader, exams are open book and open note, one essay and a few outside books, although no text book. She's the best!
