She has no idea what she is talking about and is very unclear. Quite vindictive in her grading if you have absolutely no interest in her class.

Unbearable workload. In excess of 10000 words written, +presentation, +exam, in one semester. She knows her stuff but can be patronising, especially given that the class is upper level. Coursework allows no room for creativity, it is mundane and repetitive.

Lots and lots of reading! It was all really interesting though. You need to keep up, or be pretty good at winging it. Her assignments don't seem to allow for a lot of creativity, but you don't need to stick to the outline too much.

Ridiculous amount of work; 3 500 oage novels, nearly 900-1000 words a week in daily journal entries, three 8 page essays, a group presentation and final report; if you have a full course load, definitely avoid her class. Also, it's very hard to improve by letter grades in her course, so if you start with a C, you're going to stay in that range.

Completely unbearable workload. 250-350 pages per week of readings, plus lengthy daily journals. We never had any time to do appropriate readings as it would take up about 2-3 hours per class. If you have a full course load, avoid her at all costs!!

She is an okay marker and makes helpful suggestions at times. Her assignments do not really encourage creativity and are quite structured. Her articles were boring but I learned quite a lot. Don't expect to use the textbook; she barely assigns anything from it. Attendance is CRUCIAL since the textbook is rarely used.

Expect to read at least 250 pages per week to keep up. I dont think she likes much creativity, her essay topics are extremely structured, to the point of being ridiculous. Reading and responding to boring articles in a 'scholarly manner.' Jumpy and slow moving lectures, consistently runs over class time rambling. Group projects are 10% of grade.

She smiles a lot at everyone during class, which made me think she would be a very easy-going professor, but she was the total opposite! Attendance, first of all, is manditory in her class, second, if you aren't sure of something, make sure you go see her during her office hours! She helps you a lot with a sweet tone during her office hors :).

A helpful and good-natured prof who wants you to put in work. She wants to teach you to write scholarly papers. This is not a class where you write about something you think was interesting; you respond to scholars' articles in a structured and thematic way. Go to office hours and you will learn a lot from her! Disgusting workload, though.

Key to success: TALK IN CLASS AND GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She was a hard marker in the beginning, however, after going to her office hours and talking in class, my grades have largely improved from C+ to A-! Finals wasn't too bad....but hard to revise for.

In the beginning she was a very hard marker, most of the class got quite a low grade. However, after going to her office hours and talking in class, my grades have largely increased due to her acknowledgment of my participation in class as well as my increase in knowledge of the class. Those who chose to be quiet got rather low grades, as expected.

Don't judge her by her intimidating mood on the first week of classes. She's actually a great lecturer. Her expectation is crystal clear and there are no mysteries to this course.

Fair prof. Assignments aren't difficult. Gives you advanced notice of deadlines. Fair marker, make sure you proofread at least 5 times because what you don't catch, she will. Participation marks are involved but if you don't it's not a big deal, she just won't know your name.

Great teacher who is very helpful and VERY nice. Lots of assignments. I highly suggest not missing any classes or else you will fall behind. All assignments must be done if you don't want to fall behind because she has a lot to teach and does not slow down nor stop at any time. Overall, one of my favorite teachers.

Tough course, but worth it; taught me how to write essays. Super helpful prof, and a genius to boot. This course is hard because writing is hard and nothing is gonna change that. In retrospect, this essay writing course should be mandatory for all first and second year students - you'll learn a lot.

She remains in the list of my favourite profs. The course turned out to be probably one of the most practical (in some senses) out of any of my courses throughout my university career. The gaping holes the university ripped in my trouser pockets were WELL worth it. She gives excellent and accurate criticism. Fair and constructive marker. Friendly.
