Great professor! Took his history of the Middle East class because I was focusing on the Middle East as part of the Asian Studies major. Class really enhanced my knowledge of the region. I wish I had taken his class before my study abroad to Jordan and Israel.

He is extremely smart but one of the hardest classes I have taken. He lectures every day and assumes you already know what you are doing which is what makes the class so difficult. You learn a lot though so you can't get discouraged.

Lectures are long and sometimes dry for those who don't want to be a history major. He and Dr. Law made me want to be a history major. Lester is tough but fair. Former lawyer, don't sleep or text in class... You'll regret it. Don't miss class. Talk to him in his office and your grade will go up even though he has sign up sheets for exams/papers

Dr. Lester is difficult , but I liked him a lot. He is well liked my many students and clearly knows what he is talking about. You HAVE to put work into the class, both in and out of class. Lots of reading and pop quizzes. I highly suggest never missing his classes. He grades hard but gives good feedback. He is always super helpful & understanding.

Dr. Lester was easily one of the best professors I have encountered at BSC. I am not a history major, but he made me want to take more of his classes. This class was not easy, but if you do the reading and pay attention, you'll be okay.

So brilliant but so boring. He has some really misleading ideas about faith and history, and sharing that with the class enhances no one's knowledge. I think he is running for political office now, which he may be better-suited for. In any case, he really ruined some cool subjects with how boring he was about them.

The amount of reading this man wants the students to do is absolutely outrageous. close to 200 pages of tightly written text before every class. And his exams are insane. He only gives out one A a semester out of all of his classes. He may know his subject but he is terrible when it comes to assigning work and grading.

Dr. Lester is a wonderful teacher. His test questions come straight from his lectures in class. Make sure you take good notes and pay attention in class. He is always willing to help you out outside of class. The class is difficult but possible, you just have to keep up and start studying for tests early.

Dr. Lester is a very knowledgeable man. However, he is often unclear as to what he wants. Sometimes he will tell you that he wants one thing on a paper and then will take off because you wrote on that exact thing. There is a world of information to gain from this man, but sometimes he becomes bored of his own lectures, and then so will you.

He is brilliant, a highly intelligent person. The class is not easy and requires a lot of work. However, hard work pays off? unlike in some other classes at BSC. No matter how hard this class was, I enjoyed it and learned a lot.

I took History of England since 1789 with him. It was very difficult! Even if you are an A student, DO NOT expect an A in this class. Lester is very intelligent and extremely professional in his teaching style. He is Harvard material. However, English history since 1789 is SO BORING! The reading is very tedious and Lester demands a whole lot!

Thinks very highly of himself. Talks down to students and grades erratically. Decent teacher, if you disregard his arrogance. Be aware that Law and Lester combine HI102 classes and take turns teaching. Also TA's lead required group discussions that essays and fin. exam are based on and they do a terrible job.

Lester is a very fun teacher, but you may find yourself cursing him. He gives about two hours worth of reading per night and then will lecture on a topic that may not have anyhting to do with the assignment. I don't know why someone said he gets to know the students because I don't think he'll retain anyone's name in my class in a month.

Dr. Lester is incredably helpful and always is willing to help if you stop by or email him. His classes are interesting and he is very intelligent. He plays devil's advocate and you truly learn the material. Often, he let's class out early. Even though he's tough, I really enjoy his class- one of my favorite teachers!

Dr. Lester is one of those "popular" professors whom everyone loves and everyone wants to love them. Ultimately though he really is a fantastic professor. He motivates in class, he grades fairly, makes an effort to learn the name of each student, and creates a seriously academic class environment. I learned a great deal from one class with him.

Dr. Lester's class is hard, however, he knows his stuff. He was always willing to help. I hate history in general and he at least taught me something. Though its a lot of work, I learned something, and in my opinion if you can learn one thing from a class, it is a success.
