I thought Professor Larkin was a fair grader, but rarely responded to the emails I sent her regarding feedback on assessments. I would recommend the course if you enjoy tourism and culture. The final was very straight forward, and she told us exactly what would be on it. Overall enjoyed the course!

i took this course online. i did really well on the online participation portion but when it came to the assignments and exams, her TA's marked and they were harsh. She gives the questions for the final exam beforehand, but the 3 books assigned are so outdated and boring, which makes the course boring overall.

very vague in guidelines for essay. grading of all course components is very subjective so don't expect the marks you think for the effort you put in. the final is given to you in advance but marked hard. course has gotten harder than in previous years likely due to the perceived birdiness of it in previous years.

This class was great because of the minimal assignments. Although they weighed heavy, they were particularly easy to do. The only thing I absolutely DREADED was the weekly postings. As an online course, it was actually easy to breeze through without doing anything which puts you in a lazy mood. However, come Wednesday 12pm and you've got to post!

Dr Larkin doesn't have to say anything in her classes in order for you to learn. This lady works magic in class. courses are usually online, very integrated and interactive, the ideal set up for online courses. her essays are difficult but spend time and think critically and you'll do well. no midterms but finals can be very challenging!

I would avoid Sherry if you can. Her lectures are extremely unclear and can be difficult to follow. She is a very dull, monotone speaker. Read her text books word for word. She turned me off of Sociocultural anthropology due to her overall lack of clarity.

larkin is an alright prof but the way in which she conducts herself is poor. While emailing back and forth in regards to a grading issue she did nothing but patronize, mock and create excuses to explain why she "couldn't help me". In the end she failed to reply to my emails and just ignored me. Joke of a professor; be more professional.

She seems nice but her style of presentation sucks. Her power points are borderline horrible and she seems scattered while presenting - switching back and forth between irrelevant topics- making note taking difficult. A lot of people enjoy her but just be prepared for the worst, in case.

Online course. A lot of reading but excellent texts. One essay and one exam but 60% of your marks are for your weekly postings. Read all of them and post intelligently and you will get an A.

one of the best profs I've had. I took anthro with her in first year, her exams are fair (borderline easy) and she's clear in her teaching methods. i was writing my term essay and (after submitting the topic proposal) she grabbed me after class and gave me an amazing book on my topic to borrow. she's SO awesome. extremely kind as well.

Economic Anthropology, somehow she managed to make this course very interesting through the readings and texts she decided to use. As an online course much was self-directed but she was ALWAYS there to help and easily accessible, she listened to student needs and was very lenient with deadlines etc. basically noting is set in stone. Amazing Prof!

I bet she was a great Prof 25 years ago. Today, she is like an over-aged hippie whose research is as out of date as her teaching methods. Incredibly biased against white European males. She can't handle challenges to her views on any topic (gets nasty). Generally a nice lady who now seems bored and should have retired years ago.

So I went into the class thinking that it was biological anthro. I was very wrong. Although I hated the subject matter, I must say that Prof Larkin was the nicest person Ive ever met. She is caring and will help you. I am sorry for sleeping through every single class.... Note: sleeping will not hurt your grade that much
