There were a few test and a few papers where you had to answer questions about your simulated child. I did these to the best of my ability and did really well on them. Had I done all of my work I would have got an A but I skipped 1/3 of one of the papers and it lowered me to a B+. I would definitely recommend her class if you have the time.

Don't take her class. She isn't understanding of students and cares more about formatting than content. Was emailing back and forth because grades weren't reflective of the work submitted (I received zeros for complete assignments I submitted on time because it wasn't the formatting she wanted). She's tough, rude, and doesn't care about students.

I took this as a winter term course. It was a ton of work and there wasn't much that was graded. Each lesson had a long video and an extremely long book chapter. The tests weren't super difficult but weren't easy either. The Virtual Child assignments are extremely time-consuming. I would not recommend as a winter or summer term class.

She is so nice! I had her for my online class this winter and she was very prompt with the feedback she actually read everything I submitted, and would email me separately and say what a great job I was doing and to keep it up. I think that really motivated me to keep getting an AWESOME GRADE. Def recommend taking her class!

Barbara isn't understanding when her students hand in late assignments. Ex., if your assignment that you'd worked on most of the day was late by 10 minutes, she would not count it and you would receive a zero. Not the best at correspondence. Tests were insane. I failed almost all of them. Bio Anthro was easier than this course. Avoid if possible!

Barbara Howard is truly one of the best professors I have had. It was such a pleasure to work with her, it is a shame that this course was only three weeks long. She is clear, kind, and efficient. It meant a lot to me that she gave feedback and I could tell she always took the time to read my assignments.

This class is one of the hardest classes I've taken. Every week there is either an assignment due that is in essay format or a Virtual Child assignment which is at least 4 paragraphs per question, but if you want to get a good grade, you have to write at least 6 or 7. I dread doing work for this class every week. AVOID!

Any attempt to contact is usually pleasant and she does try to help, however her TA is extremely rude. It is expected that responses be at least 4 paragraphs when it is impossible to make them that long. Syllabus is a COMPLETE disaster, good luck figuring it out. Worse class I have ever taken.

Honestly, one of the worst classes I've taken at Maine. CHF is not my major so this class was not my top priority but she made it a top priority. I had more work to do in this class than I did in my 4 others. Each discussion needed to be 5 or more paragraphs, in essay form. Responses needed to be at least 4 if you wanted any credit.

Took this class online. I HATE IT. It is so hard. She tries to help, but it doesn't really help. Her TA Anne Donovan is very rude and unfair. Avoid this class with them if possible. It is too hard and the lectures are VERY boring.

The tests are worth 60 percent of our grade, but she does not teach for the tests. Posting twice a week and an activity once in awhile is easy to do. But, the tests are extremely difficult. Some of the questions are not covered in the tests and it's like guess work. She tries to be really helpful but she doesn't understand how hard her tests are.

I took this online and it's not bad at all, all you have to do is post a discussion twice a week and do 5 "activities" over the semester. The tests are soo hard and specific but they are online so you can use your book If you want to cheat. Overall, pretty easy if you do what you're supposed to.

I took this class 3 times...I failed the first 2 times but that was because I did not try very hard but finished the last time with a B+ because I tried :)...yes the tests are hard but if you do the reading and stay actively involved in the class then you will be fine...it is not a class you can just get by in without trying...

Half the students passed around copies of test or did it together and other half got screwed by being honest. Tests are way too tricky unless you cheat and use book. Doesn't test what you know. Doesnt teach text very much yet counts for 50% of grade. Not very empathetic either. Worst grade I have received and this is my major.

Online class is kind of easy. Read everything every week and there will be no surprises on tests(which are all multiple choice).Always helpful if you need it and very prompt with grading. She is understanding and I would recommend that if you have something going on that is interfering with your work, or if you just need a little help, contact her!
