This class was very hard as a non fluent speaker, even though I have been taking Spanish for several years. Many quizzes and compositions in this class. She is a hard grader on composition and marks every single mistake. Tests are on easier side though. Homework every night. Overall an okay teacher but would avoid if not good at spanish.

This was a very challenging class but it did help improve my Spanish skills. She is pretty clear with expectations for work and exams, but you have to put in a lot of work and try to participate as much as you can in class. Lots of reading to stay on top of but put in the work and it will be okay.

yes okay she is nice but its a hard class. Shes sweet but not understanding so have good excuses if you miss class. Tests aren't hard its just hard to do well on them because shes very particular about what she wants. You can get by just doing homework with questions and none of the other hw. Overall the class is pretty interesting though

This class was TOUGH. There was always homework which was reading a story / essay, answering questions on it, and writing a paragraph response on the readings. You need to do the questions and IDs for class for participation. There were no quizzes just the tests and she showed no mercy while grading. Does give extra credit chances though.

This class almost made me want to drop my minor. There was so much work and reading that it felt unbearable at times. I am not a native speaker but my Spanish is decent but I still felt lost 90% of the time. You read so much in such little time and if you think you can wing the exams, you can't. This class is basically AP lit but in Spanish.

I genuinely could not recommend Dr. Gomez-Perez less. If I could rate her a zero I would. She is extremely inconsiderate and teaches the class in a way that your spanish will literally get worse. I am the second person I know to drop my spanish minor after her class. Save yourself the mental anguish and don't even bother with her.

I have complicated feelings about Dr. Gomez-Perez. I took a different class with her before and got a B so I really had to work hard to get the B+. I'm nearly fluent in Spanish and her classes will make you work. Even the native speakers had a tough time. She has clear grading criteria though, but it's very hard to do well on her essays.

This professor is very unapproachable and makes very rude comments. She makes her quizzess very easy, but the tests are impossible. I do not recommend her and if you end up being put into her class then I would drop right away. She accuses student of various things and is very bias towards each person. Also does not have a great attitude in class.

Great professor. Class is set up very clear. HW is collected twice a week and graded, about an hour of work per class. Midterm and lengthy in-class final. No quizzes. Two short presentations in groups. Professor gives great feedback on any/all writing which is helpful and is always available to help students. Good class and lots of extra credit.

Great professor and I am surprised by some of these reviews. Grading criteria is clear and based on content not grammar. Class is well organized and formatted. About an hour of HW per class, midterm, final, and two short presentations. Tells you exactly what you need to know and is a really nice woman!

Professor Gomez-Perez has an abrasive demeanor. She was unapproachable from day one. She does not have any compassion for her students and does not want to work with a student under any circomstances. I would NEVER take a course from her again. She is not a nice person and should not be at a school like Loyola-Catholic,nurturing,kind

Professor Gomez-Perez is great. The course work isn't too overwhelming but it's essential to do to pass and to thoroughly benefit from the class. There're pop quizzes but she lets you know ahead of time when one's coming and what it's on. She's very caring and offers office hours. Also, she's funny every now and then! Highly suggest. DO NOT SKIP!!

I highly recommend Gomez-Perez only if you're interested in Spanish. She's a tough grader and will make you work, but she also teaches you a lot and pushes you to improve your spanish. Recommended for Spanish majors/minors. You also watch a lot of movies which is fun.

I love her! SHe is so nice and wants to help you in any way. I have had her twice now an I want to take all her classes. The material is a little dry but her tests and papers are on the easy side and if you put in the small amount of work she requires, you will do fine. Favorite spanish professor here!

She is awesome at explaining things. Always helping out. Still accepts work if you were absent the day it was due. No quizzes but a few tests which aren't too hard if you study well. Give plenty extra credit opportunity. Quite lenient for the most part. Pretty easy grader, LOTS of writing but it really helps you with your spanish. Highly recommend

Excellent teacher! Easiest of the Spanish teachers to actually understand. She really wants you to learn vocabulary and is very helpful about it. Tests are all the same format so are easy to study for. A few compositions and movies, but you review everything in class. Would take her again!
