Nice professor, a bit eccentric. Doesn't use canvas which is very annoying. You absolutely need to take go to class and take notes to know what to do on assignments. Lots of assignments. Don't read the book unless he directly tells you to read a portion. Make sure that you participate in class. I got an A and I don't consider myself a good writer.

Jebb is a good guy who is super passionate about his subject, but he is extremely outdated. He doesn't use a canvas page and you have to go to class to have any idea how to do the assignments. He literally takes role every class for a participation grade so you have to go. Assignments are generic but you really have to work to for a good grade

Very great and passionate guy. Classes were usually pretty interesting. Can be a pretty tough grader but it's evident he cares and wants you to succeed.

I have no doubt John Jebb is a good man, but that in no way means he is good at his job. This is the most useless class I have ever taken and he is impossible. Ancient, no canvas, constant one page papers where you have to use 6 sources. Tells you "not enough substance". How could there be its one page. Please listen to me. SAVE YOURSELF DONT TAKE

Terrible class. Don't listen to the bootlickers here who give him good reviews. They would give him good reviews irregardless of class quality. Such a boring man. Doesn't use canvas. Ancient. Requires attendance. You'll never understand the dichotomy of being assigned one page papers but getting comments like "insufficient content". Save yourself.

Not a difficult class at all, but it's a lot of busy-work. For an ENGL110 class I received so much more work than my friends who were in other sections. Again, none of it was too difficult but be prepared to read each and every week. Those 1 page summaries due at the end of each week were the worst.

Get ready to read 100-300 pages a week depending on the books he chooses to assign. After reading you have to write a one page paper on a topic he chooses. Might be the worst class I have taken at UD,If you are a full time student and don't have/want to dedicate the time to read an entire book every week, don't take this class Also not 2nd writing

Dr. Jebb is kind and caring if not boisterous and a *bit* eccentric. Participate often in class and you'll get better grades on your essays. He has frequent office hours which are quite helpful for boosting your essay grades. Be prepared for a lot of reading and a large number of essays.

Actually a really nice man. But: no rubrics, ambiguous essay prompts and syllabus, tough grader, didnt learn much. Lecture is useless - just talking about the plot details of the books we read. GO TO OFFICE HOURS with a rough draft and do what he says. I started getting As the moment I went to office hours. Thankful I was a good writer going in.

Jebb is passionate & is a great teacher. There is a decent amount of work: he alternates short stories, novels, & movies with a 1 page paper due every Mon based on what you read/ watched. Confusing at first but you will quickly get the hang of it and will probably end up loving it even if you think you're going to hate it. PARTICIPATE AT ALL COST

Professor Jebb loves what he teaches, and is a super enthusiastic and fun professor. If you enjoy the detective genre, take this! I took it for my major, and I will say it was a very demanding course - a novel/movie/tv show a week and a one-page essay due every Monday. It wasn't as time consuming as I thought, and I took 18 credits and did fine.

Very passionate and educated professor, but reading an entire novel per week is hard to do along with other homework. Due every Monday is a 1 pg essay, which sounds easy but makes a concrete argument difficult. Jebb is a tough grader and expects super in-depth analysis. Only one absence allowed. Fun class if you like loud-speaking profs & reading.

The Detective in Film and Fiction is an incredible class if you enjoy the genre. You may not like every book but they are all worth the read and you only need to write one page on each book. It is a book or movie a week which is a lot but the class discussions are so fun to participate in it is worth it. Dr. Jebb is awesome and loves teaching this.

Jebb is a really interesting guy and I liked him a lot. I got an A in his class with minimal effort, but if you aren't a solid writer he will definitely turn you into a better one. His office hours were always helpful and comfortable. He offers feedback and help. As long as you know what he is looking for and you put in effort, it's not bad.

Prof. Jebb is a very quirky man. He claims to follow MLA formatting/citation but he has his own little variations. He will assign many essays, but if you write strong, assertive, well-structured essays, they should be easy A's or B+'s. Participating in class will make him like you more and you'll benefit. Criteria is unclear and you'll learn little

2d post for tips: if you go to every class and raise your hand like twice per day he will like you and it will reflect in grading. he likes a very structured essay with a strong thesis and a lot of citations.

Jebb is incredible! Do not let his abundance of papers overwhelm you; once you figure out how/what he wants you to write, you'll get good grades! I got an A on every single paper! Plus his class is so much fun and he is always willing to help. Love him!

Prof. Jebb is a hilariously quirky dude. I will agree he is a bit of a tough grader, but you just got to learn to put the effort in. Just take a strong side when writing an essay, and he'll think your paper is amazing. Definitely have to read the material or else your done for. I worked a fair amount in his class and left with an A. Favorite prof.
