Comment:
Eason is a great guy, but his lectures are tough to follow. Labs cover topics way earlier than they're introduced in class, making them far more difficult than they need to be. He takes the time to go over the labs in lecture for the second half of the class which is great, but it's a pretty tough course with a lot of material for an "intro" class.

Great professor and real caring guy who helps whenever he can. He personally helped me in my capstone project, which was completely unrelated to the class, without me prompting him to do so. The class wasn't bad whatsoever. He grades extremely lenient on exams and explains material well in lecture. My complaint was that labs were a little unclear.

This man can't give a coherent lecture. He makes the concepts seem more complicated, so it's hard to understand what he's asking for. I was brand new to programming, so there were times where I had no other choice but to visit his office for help and he made me feel uncomfortable because he was extremely condescending. Take COS 220 instead!

Has an interest in students' success and will put in extra time to explain concepts. Has a habit of complicating things. As others say, he's spacy and I'm surprised he can function with the umpteen activities and classes he's in charge of. Overall, good guy who might not be a perfect teacher but is very helpful. Had him for 177, was about the same.

Very boring lectures that you can read in the required textbook reading. Make a lot of friends are share the codes you make because you will have a hard time doing it all yourself. Labs are long and TA's are pretty inaccessible if you need help. Professor is condescending and made me uncomfortable during lectures and labs. Take COS 220 instead.

Eason is a nice guy and has the best intentions for his course, but in reality his intentions don't pan out. Lectures are scattered and incoherent and he often ends up trying to explain something only to confuse himself. Labs expect way to much for a beginning chip programming course and many fall behind, with TA's often unable to provide help.

Lectures are sometimes boring because he explains everything in great detail, but he really makes sure you understand. 1-on-1s with him are very, very helpful. He is one of the best professors I've ever had.

He goes over every little detail, until sometimes redundant. But he is a great professor and a very nice guy. He explains things well, is very organized, and has some pretty "cool objects" to show every class. Love his class.

Give him props for being a nice guy, but his lectures made things 10x harder than they had to be. I could have skipped every class and probably would have done just as well, maybe even better. (too bad he takes attendance) Read the book, you'll do fine. He also tried to cram in way too much new material in the last week or two.

Just beginning 275 and it's already turning into a failure. This is based on having him for 177 as well, he will start an example and most of the time end up making a big mistake and confusing you to a point where you want to give up. Doesn't seem to always know what he's talking about, doesn't make a student confident in his ability.

Spacey. Incoherent lectures. Took forever to grade assignments. Seemed more concerned about HAM radios, balloons, and puzzles than teaching programming. Yet a very nit picky grader on tests. (Some of his cool objects were cool though)

Do the reading assignments on time. His lectures make far more sense if you've done the reading. Otherwise it is usually gibberish. Tests are alright, no quizzes. Take notes and ask questions. Likes to take a long time to cover the same topic, and you'll probably learn binary each of the first three semesters you have him.

Take an interest in this class and you will succeed. If you are new to coding, you need to attend every class and seek extra help when you need it. Professor Eason is a good man and an easy teacher. Expect to have an advanced understanding of the subject matter prior to taking a test. Overall i got an A in his course and am quite content with it.

Eason is kinda quirky and disorganized, and sometimes has trouble making concepts clear. However, he is very enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, and always willing to help out if you are struggling. Class was pretty relaxed and he would always bring in "something cool" to show us.

This is the first year of this class, and this class was rough ,especially if you don't have any previous programming experience. The labs are long and they are hell, the instructions are also vague and unclear. I can't say that it's completely Eason's fault, however a significant portion of the class was struggling and I hope it gets better.

Very friendly person. The class wasn't exceptionally hard if you went and payed attention. Labs were long. Towards the end of the year we weren't given any more homework which helped balance things out. He showed us an "interesting object of the day" every day, which was an incentive to come to class. He's a good professor, but a better advisor.

Smart guy who can't teach. Class is easy, but he doesn't give much take home work which makes the tests hard as you don't know what to expect. He puts random things on the test. Not helpful when asked a question.

Comment:
Eason is a good prof and a good guy. I had already taken COS 230 so this class was mind-numbingly easy, however for those who had no programming experience it was hard and the labs were VERY time-consuming. This isn't really Eason's fault, I think that an intro to CS class should be a prereq.
