I have taken Dr. Bowers twice during my undergrad. His classes have been the most difficult but rewarding courses I have ever taken. I have learned the material closely in his classes and all of the challenges in this class are worth it because you leave his class more prepared and knowledgeable. As a prelaw student, I recommend him to everyone!

Bowers is the best prof I've ever had. This was the first PSC class where I felt like I was being adequately challenged and learning something. Don't expect an easy A, you definitely need to show up and put in the work to pass. I highly recommend Bowers to anyone willing to take on a challenge!

Such a great class. I feel like I learned so much this semester. I may not have gotten the A I wanted, but it was an awesome class. If you take him just be prepared to work. It is not easy!

One of the tougher professors at UNLV. He will tear apart your spelling and grammar in your essays (if you have that component), and the exams can be rough if you don't remember specifics for tests of the law. He's a great professor, I learned a lot that will help me with law school in the future, but I think I deserved a better grade.

Bowers is a GREAT professor, full of charisma, and teaches eloquently and is available to help. However. There are two tests that are solely written- four short answers and one essay. Know everything!! Hes all lectures and no PPTs. Theres also an essay about a SCOTUS case- he will ding you for even grammar- write beyond the opinion. Hes tough.

Whole grade is based on 3 hard tests. Attendance isnt mandatory because he knows you will fail if you dont show up. Know EVERYTHING for these tests. The good thing is he doesnt make a test until he believes your class is ready. He makes the test up like a week before based on what he believes you should know. Read text, take good notes.

I'm currently a law student at Boyd & I took Professor Bowers during my undergrad. career. I 100% recommend his classes for anyone who wants to pursue law. His lectures and materials can be dense but he prepares students to think in a way that goes beyond memorization of facts. Write down all the "tests" for law he provides and apply to your exams.

This is one of the tougher classes I've take so far. There are only 3 exams all short answer/essay, no papers, a lot of reading. You really can't miss class because he is able to cover so much in just one lecture and you really need to read the textbook. He walked out of class and didn't return, bc no one was answering his question about a case.

Professor Bowers taught me before most of those who will read this were born, but in reading the reviews I believe he has not changed. His Constitutional Rights class he taught in the 1990s was one of the most difficult, challenging, and rewarding classes I ever took in eight years of college. I learned a lot about the subject. Great professor.

I've taken Bowers before for his PSC411A class and overall you need to do the reading and show up to class to pass. He grades you on 3 tests and they are all essay/short answer based. He really knows his stuff and his lectures are always good. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and he makes it a point to KNOW EVERYTHING. I would recommend this prof

Classes are only verbal lectures. His exams are very specific and if you miss class you'll have no clue what the exam is talking about. Take notes anytime theres a category of things or court's tests and examples of them. The exams are 3 short answer (.5 to 1 page long) and 1 essay (3-4 pages long) but you can choose the questions from his options.

Mr. Bowers is the best teacher I have ever had. Compared to the other UNLV professors he is by far the best. Dont take this class if you dont want to come to class and listen to lectures. His lectures are extremely organized and this makes them easy to follow. Amazing class. First time I learned something at UNLV.

Class is not very difficult and is a reasonable grader. I didn't find him much too hard as long as you wrote down your notes; reading was optional as it had minimal, if at all, involvement on the exams. The exams cover a lot of material but you can do well as long as you pay attention in class; the material is discussed at length. Would recommend.

I took two classes with Dr. Bowers this semester. He really is a fantastic instructor. A little old school, (doesn't use power points, or online campus tools). He expects a lot of reading. His exams are all essay format and he is a tough grader. He has a sense of humor as well, and he really knows his stuff. Very respected. Will take him again.

This guy is a VERY TOUGH grader. It was hard to know exactly what he was looking for and all tests are essayshort answer. If you don't have the time to read at least 30 pages a night, don't take this class. However, he is a very good professor and very passionate about his stuff. This class is HARD, so don't take it if you're not ready to work.

Attendance is not mandatory, but it might as well be. In-class notes from the lecture will be as important as reading the textbook. No papers, but three equally weighted tests that are pretty tough. On the bright side, he is very clear and helpful, so if you pay attention you shouldn't have too much trouble.

If you want do perform well, take notes on every word that leaves his mouth, including examples, and then memorize them by heart A. He will also cover everything in class necessary to score 100 on exams. Studied about 4 hours everyday 2 weeks prior to the exam. Reading helps. Easy professor but for UNLV standards he's tough.

Dr. Bowers is a great professor. HOWEVER, his class is exceptionally difficult. As a student with a LD, this class was really hard to stay on top of. Additionally, I don't think it's fair to base a grade off of three exams only. Would not recommend taking again.
