Comment:
Dr. Mian was a very kind and passionate professor in our FYS Physics class. There was a lecture every day, a chapter of the book to read almost every day, and a quiz and a homework almost every day. It required hard work, especially because I am not great at physics in general, but Dr. Mian did his best to clarify the concepts for us.

To be fair, it was a summer session. Not sure how he is during regular semester. He gave quizzes daily, usually covering a concept covered in the class prior. Content is what you'd expect but you must justify all answers, especially multiple choice or you will receive little to no credit for the problem. Study the quick check and handouts to pass.

Dr. Mian is a really good professor. He explains concepts well. Great at drawing out the problems and making sure everyone understands what is going on. I loved how he applied concepts to daily things we use which made the class more interesting and easier to remember. Exams were fair if you studied the material he gave and worked in class.

He belongs more in a research setting. Class lectures involve him reading off PowerPoint presentations and delving into mathematical proofs that are for the most part unnecessary. Loves to talk about himself and his accomplishments, and if you're a female student be prepared to be talked down upon. Hardly any office hours. Avoid him.

The work load will be a lot because of the subject. It is a labor intensive subject, it's a hard subject. But Mian is willing to explain things, and push back dates. Just ask questions and reach out to him, he'll be there. You might hate him in the beginning, but if you take Marx after taking Mian, you'll realize how much you miss him. He's amazing

I had nothing against Dr. Mian, he was a nice guy, but it was just a tough subject in general. He made us work for our grades and he was there to help.

There is a lot of homework, the tests are very difficult, and Dr. Mian expects you to put a lot of time and energy in if you want to do well. However, he is fair and he really wants you to succeed so if you go to him for help, he will be really helpful. The course is very math-based. Dr. Mian loves what he is teaching.

He can't teach the subject. Intro level classes are easier with him but upper level are torture.

He was a good professor to take my freshman year. I hear if you want to take the MCAT take Dr.Marx. If you just want to pass the class, take Dr.Mian.

Probably should not be teaching at McDaniel, should be at bigger university doing more research and more teaching in his subject area. Tests are easy and he will make them easier if the average is a C or lower (so much for average). Problem sets are ridiculous, takes 5-7 hours to finish them. If you're a chem major take Mian, otherwise take Marx.

He is definitely the worst physics teacher here. He is only okay when he is not having one of his usual PMS attacks. If you are a female, be ready to see his ugly side.
