DO NOT TAKE HER IF TAKING 120. She goes pretty fast during lecture, and she does a bad job in explaining concepts. NO MIDTERMS, just QUIZZES on lab days and on the final its open notes, book, and you could use previous programs made during lab. DROP CLASS or SWITCH PROF if you can, or else you will have a hard time in CPSC 121.

I was worried coming into her class because of her scores on here. But I think she is pretty helpful. I don't understand how she gives grades, I got an A when in reality I think I deserve a C, but I'm not complaining. Get tutored! She goes through notes really fast and if you don't ask questions you'll be lost. On final you can use old programs.

I don't like how the professor teaches. Not very clear at all compared to my other cpsc professors, still very possible to get an A in her class but learning wise I did not like her at all

Totally a sub-standard professor. Lecture is a reading from the Powerpoint and she goes quite fast so you might not get down all the notes but at the same time they're not all that helpful. I think I learned more from the book than her. Lab days consists of a quiz and an assignment, which you must do her way or lose points. Drop if possible!

He method of projects/quizzes are absurd! She has no idea of "the best way" to do something in the project. Knowledgable of her material, horrible as a professor...

She's not a terrible teacher, you just have to ask questions and she explains it quite clearly. The lectures are a bit boring because they are power points, but quizes, bonus points, and lab assignments are fairly easy. This class is an easy A if you just show up and do the work

This isn't an easy class. Her lectures are pretty boring. All she does is read powerpoints. I highly recommend doing all of the bonus points. They seriously help your grade. Oh and really study for the weekly quizzes. They are T/F and multiple choice. No exams. The final is writing a program.

The average for this class was a C for the semester. Many, many students failed this class. Her lectures has nothing to do with her lab assignments she hands out. She doesnt explain what shes looking for when grading. Even if it's right, she takes off many points bc its not how she wants it. She reads of powerpoint. Useless, waste of time and money

Didn't explain concepts clearly, tests were on concepts which were not discussed in lecture. Very difficult grading on the homework. Didn't learn much from the course. Many many students must retake this course solely due to this professor. Difficult class made impossible by this professor.

This class is difficult but passable. This was my first computer science class, and I managed an A. Make sure you do every bonus point assignment, it will fill in your homework grade. On the homework, take your program to her office and ask her to go over what needs help. For tests, review lecture notes and text book definitions.

Good class but definitely not an easy A. You need to spend a lot of time outside of class programming to really understand the concepts. Read your book, take notes, and do the practice problems. Also, if you want to set yourself up for an A, make sure you really understand passing arguments to functions (reference vs value) etc.

Currently she is the only instructor that teaches 131 so you have no choice but to take her. To succeed in her class, you must take good notes. She lectures off of powerpoints and rarely answers in class questions at great length. Theres 8 programming assignments along with 2 tests and a final. She does offer extra credit, so make sure to do all of

Her exams are very difficult, so study hard and especially take notes on her powerpoints and pay attention when she does functions and how she gets the outputs because there will be similar problems on the exams where you need to figure out outputs. Assignments were either easy or really hard. Do all the bonus points!!! If you want to pass

Programs are pretty basic the first half of the semester. Lectures are straight from the book with walk through of examples. No exams just quizzes from each chapter that have true/false, multiple choice and one short answer. Gives extra credit. The final is writing a program on the computer with no help from other students but open note, open book and you can use past labs. I didn't finish the final but got over 100% in class. One student got 140%.

Honestly there is no point in even showing up to class. All she does is go through code examples that are in the book and explains them the same way the book does. The final is easy, all you have is a lab and there are no multiple choice questions. Overall poor teaching though.

She is the WORST teacher I have ever had, I did not learn anything from her. I am surprised she is still "teaching". Her notes are unavailable to students, the programs were mostly unrelated to what she lectured in class. CSUF please listen to the comments from your students!!! I am sure shes not a bad person but she surely is a HORRIBLE professor!

She speeds through her PowerPoint lectures which are never available for download. Programming assignments were hit or miss, some were really easy and some were difficult as she wasn't thorough on how she wanted some things done. If you understood the material though, you should be able to pass as the exams were straightforward for the most part.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH LAGUNA. My experiences with her in this course are terrible, horrible, frustrating, etc. The class was WORTHLESS, no knowledge was gained from her teaching. 100% more was learned online and through video tutorials downloaded elsewhere. She admits to hating C++, and it shows in her teaching.

I don't understand what other students are talking about. The class is totally easy as long as you show up. All you have to do is take good notes, organize them and show up to take an open notes test. Two assignments, one of them group project, which can be a pain if you got lazy people in your team. I got an A+ in the class.
