Dr. Schlenker was great. He was so knowledgeable, had clear expectations, but didnt push too much. He always had the true or false question, Dr. Schlenker is my favorite sociology professor on his tests - freebie! He worked with me a lot when I was sick and late for a term paper. Grateful for him!

Very nice professor. I only took his classes because he is the only teacher I could have for them online. His lectures are difficult to find in blackboard. When asking questions he gives a somewhat unclear response and ends it with OK? He is a very tough grader and even when you think you have written enough, you havent done enough.

I took a 7-week online class. Prof puts students in charge. You're placed in an online group of 10 students to discuss 3-4 topics weekly. Participation with students in your group is mandatory, and fun. Couple of quizzes, 2 exams of 5 essays. Final project is a paper on policy change. This is a writing intense class, but fun if you like to write.

He is nice and repectful enough and is a fair grader. He stuck to the syllabus and clearly outlined when he wanted each assignment. If you ever have a class with him, just remember "details, details, details." He likes to see details and examples.

The professor was overloaded on work, so he was not able to answer questions and I felt like I was teaching myself during the entire course. Students were required to watch long lectures every week on video. My recommendation is to print out the lecture and read it. I was able to do it faster that way, plus keep notes. He was nice, but too busy.

I took two classes with Schlenker, SOC 101 and Intro to College Experience. He is easy-going and knowledgeable. You can tell he cares about the students' progress. He explains things very clearly.

I found him to be a teacher that required your attention. Good work is received by good grades. I received 106, 104, 98 and 105 on my final grades in his class. I take pride in my school work, but at the same time I am a mom of 2 active boys. Changed my major from nursing to Sociology because i enjoyed his classes so much.

He is an awful teacher. I have had two classes with him and he is very repetitive and long winded. He expects too much out of his students. It's very hard to do well in these classes because he expects so much out of everyone. I took his online course this two summers ago social problems and that was even worse.

He is an awful teacher, nice guy but really bad teacher. I have had two classes with him and he is very repetitive and long winded. It's very hard to do well in these classes because he expects so much out of everyone. It was almost impossible to study for the tests. I took his online course this summer social problems and that was worse.

Boring! I found the material to be redundant and common sense. How much can you analyze aging? When it came time for the semester project, I contacted him 3 times over a few weeks before he finally got back to me! Curriculum is reasonable, but I was shocked at how hard he was at grading papers/exams. Funny guy, but unreasonable in grading!!

too much emphasis on the textbook, entirely too much material covered in each exam, impossible to memorize everything! but very nice and obviously very enthused about the subject.

Easy "A", 3 exams w/extra credit question, final exam not comprehensive, no quizzes, one book review paper (read book & give your opinion), course booklet has fill-in boxes for taking notes in class, videos are dated and boring but Prof Schlenker is great with a kooky sense of humor. Loves what he teaches and it shows. Worth taking.

John is the best! I've had him for two classes now and I can honestly say that he is a great professor. I love his teaching style and I was never bored in his class. He is very helpful, and he is easy to talk to. I got good grades in both his classes, he really makes a point to help we students out rather than making it all the more difficult to pass his class like some professors..ehem.. Jerry Gamache.. Take Schlenkers class, you'll love it!
