If you dont want to fail such an easy HUM220 class, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. He is EXTREMELY rude and does not listen to ANY students opinion. When deciding a hum class to take for gen ed, there are so many other talented teachers other than this man. TRUST ME take a different class

Comment:
I made the mistake of skipping class 40% of the time and speed-reading. To pass this class you need to read thoroughly. Study hard. I feel bad for Savellos because he is passionate about philosophy yet very aware that students are bored. One time he didn't know what baby chickens were called so he called them "chicklets." It was great

Savello's tests are ridiculous. He gives you a crazy amount of topics on a study guide and only 3-5 topics are on the test- in GREAT detail. He can be a funny guy at times, but he has absolutely no criteria or rubric for grading. He assigns a term paper, group project, and final exam in the same week. This was the hardest A of my college career.

Elias Savellos is an average professor, he shows up, does his job and then leaves. He explains things well most of the time but then he doesn't explain things well all the time and he only says things once so you have to pay attention. Other than that he sucks, no real metric as to how he grades the tests.

Savellos is very funny and real, but also very boring. I loved the class, but i fell asleep all the time. In my opinion just read outside of class and go to his office hours.

Savellos is a great guy, but the class can get a little boring. You can choose to either read or go to class- don't do both. He goes over all of the material he assigned in the lecture. The tests are written and you choose between a few choices he gives you to write about, study EVERYTHING on the study guide or you could be screwed. Overall not bad

Ugh. Do NOT take Savellos if you hate sitting in a classroom for 1 hour 40 mins with just the sound of his voice droning on and on. He does;t use powerpoints or any supplementary material to make HUMN 220 more interesting and I truly struggled to stay awake all semester.

He's great. Phil 217 not very difficult at all if you read and take notes. You're an idiot if you don't go to class because he tells you everything he wants you to regurgitate onto the exams. He posts detailed study topics online way before the test, so study those diligently and you will get an A. Great, energetic lecturer. Will take again.

Comment:
3 exams are 60% of your grade and they're easy. Pick 3 topics out of 5 and briefly explain, then pick two out of 4 and describe a bit more (1/2 pg each), then pick 1 out of 2 and explain in detail (1 page). Getting an A is tough. 7.5% of our grade was unaccounted for and 20% of our grade he didn't give grades for. Not too bad for hum, though.

Savellos is a good teacher overall. Make sure you participate in class. He'll respect you a lot more. Study! His accent isn't hard to understand. You have to work in his classes. Don't B.S. the tests- he'll know.

He's so awesome! Went abroad with him and LOVED him. He's very clear about what he expects, which makes it's hard not to do well. He really enjoys what he's doing, which makes the class that much better. Highly recommend.

Wonderful person and professor! So smart and understanding. Highly recommend him for Humn I. I took it abroad but I bet he would be just as wonderful on campus. He's very clear about what he expects and if you know what he tells you to, you'll be fine.

Savellos is absolutely great. Very interesting guy and easy to talk to. On tests, just write everything you know about a topic and you'll be fine. He's a little scatter-brained but the class is well worth it. He narrows down the content well and knows that most HUMN students aren't philosophy majors. Take him!
