Took this as an undergrad.. definitely a grad course. Email him and he will explain what he wants to see on the assignments. Hard material to absorb through his dry and lengthy lecture videos.

I took the class with the DVDs same as EE 524. It was very clear and fun. I learned quite a lot just by watching the lectures over again if needed. I Highly Recommend this method and Professor.

Extremely smart guy with EE stuff - however he makes it way to hard for us ME students. Always picks the hardest examples, flies through them while standing in front of what he writes, then erases it. Tests are done in groups and you get as much time as you need to finish it (final is alone) and are open book/notes. Ask for a study session (final).

Comment:
Great prof for teaching EE to MEs. Circuits was a bit over my head, but he teaches MEs the short-cuts and tricks for understanding basic EE. He also allowed us to work in groups, correct our own tests and held option help sessions. Definitely one of the funniest profs I've had.

Comment:
Prof. Gover is way too smart to be teaching Circuits. He figures everyone knows what he's talking about so he just cruises through the material with barely any explanation. Plus the 2hr class was a killer. First 15 mins = lecture...second 15 mins = story...rest of time = work on one problem no one gets... Tests were over hardest problems found.

moves way too fast, final was way harder than anything done in class. all tests are done in groups, final is done alone (but just as many questions with same difficulty). doesn't explain where numbers come from, just writes them down. very frustrating!

Definitely knows what he's talking about, but doesn't communicate it in the best way. He really cares about his students, and wants to see everyone do well. You are guaranteed to hear two things in every lecture: 1) MEs need to know more about EE stuff 2) Something about the Toyota Prius

Moves fast and doesn't make sure everyone understands. Doesn't explain where numbers come from and the full thought process when solving a problem. No homework. Creates a false sense of security by letting you correct tests for full credit.

So the thing that most people miss about Gover is that he is extremely helpful IF you approach him & ask reasonable questions. Gover is much more about students understanding the concept than plug and chug. More difficult to master but MUCH more useful in the real world. Ignore the comments below. They're students who expect to be spoon fed.

What a joke. Expect him to lie to you about what your grade will be until grades are released. Guru or even Palmer would be a better choice.

nice guy, but he sucks at teaching. class is a waste unless you want to learn about useless knowledge. i quit going to class and taught myself the material, way more productive than going to class.

Terrible teacher. Basically held a conversation with the smartest kid in class then turned to everyone else and said, "See its easy". Lied thoughout entire class and screwed nearly everybody with the final grades

Refused to give us a syllabus and instead promised us all sorts of things which would give us a good grade. After semester is over he claims he didn't know what he was agreeing to so everyones grade dropped a lot. Spends more time talking about Sandia and nuclear bombs. Horrible teacher.

Gover is a really nice guy, but is just a TERRIBLE teacher. The class average on the midterm was 2.25 out of 8! Gave constant tests and quizzes that "might bump you up a couple of points" The final is all that matters, study your butt off for it and get 20 of 30 right to get 100 in the class.
