The amount of shade she threw at people was very annoying! The class material is not hard, but there is a lot to read. I did learn a few interesting things, but it was not worth taking the course :(

during the online class, the recorded lectures were easy to follow and not repetitive or boring. professor scott spaced out the material and assignments in a way that it was easy to follow. and there are 2 exams that were fair since we were able to use our notes and there wasn't a final exam. she is very easy to follow and accessible out of class

the way she teaches and sets up class, especially when it was online, was easy, straightforward, and set you up for success. she gave weekly videos about what to expect and what was due. Her workload was manageable and she was not strict with responses in papers. she is very accessible out of class and one of the best professors at geneseo

Shes a sweet little lady. She makes funny comments sometimes, and shes very understanding about grades. She will stress to you herself that she is very very approachable and available. The class itself being so easy helps a lot too. Theres nothing that you wont already know, she just dives into more specific details.

The TA's grade your reading responses. And being a conservative, I'm not happy with the lack of inclusion for other viewpoints that disagreed with the liberal political agenda. I understand that the school itself is liberal, but tolerance for other views would be validating. Also, it's impossible to do well on tests. They're too harshly graded.

There are little to no instructions, the TAs grade your weekly reflections ( on sometimes 70+ pages of reading.) Her tests are extremely particular, and almost impossible to succeed for most unless you can remember everything that happens in the readings. Some comments she says are inappropriate and sometimes offensive, shes very stuck in her ways.

This class has been torture. She provides little instruction and grades harshly. You are expected to do all of the learning on your own. This is a 100 level class and she treats it like a 2-300 level class. Simply put, its horrible.

Just not a good professor. She's nice and is a well educated sociologist, but doesn't even teach! She reads off of a powerpoint that are facts from google, has the weekly discussion group lead the lecture, and the TA's grade the weekly essays! not to mention she often makes comments that aren't super appropriate to bring up. But, not a hard class

Lectures one day a week and group discussion on the other day. 2-3 reading passages a week but if you read them carefully you'll do fine on them. Really good study guides, tests are pretty easy but based A LOT off the readings. She's pretty nice but kind of argumentative, sometimes annoys people and accidentally says offensive things.

Prof. Scott is a nice lady, and her class is pretty good, but she not once posted grades the entire semester so it was impossible to figure out where you stood in the class. There are weekly reports due, two tests (study!) and a final paper written about a book she assigns. Good class to take if you need a gen ed social science.

This was one of the worst professors I've ever had in my entire life. her grading criteria makes no sense and is so specific that its as if she's setting you up to fail. you cannot disagree with her even if her information is a bit outrageous and she's spouting nonsense. Basically, if you are of a diverse ethnic background, don't take her class.

Good professor. In this class rotates between lectures and class discussions. Weekly short papers based on readings, very easy. Group project at the end of the semester leading a discussion. Important to go to class or read. She covers main topics of the readings in class but still need to read for an A.

Very sweet person, but has unclear grading criteria, very mean feedback. Exams are all essay based. You have to read 3-4 articles a week to get points in group discussions but you dont have to read the novel for the final exam just understand the theme. go to class, she notices when youre not there. I got solid B- on all exams, got an A- in class

Professor Scott is such a sweet lady but not a great teacher. Her classes are easy, meets twice a week the lecture then a group presentation. Have to read 4 articles a week then do 7 out of the 11 mandatory journals about them. However, her exams are all essay based. She gives a study guide but her grading system is arbitrary and makes no sense.

Honestly one of the worst professors ever. She has no idea what shes talking about. She often goes off on tangents and says stupid things like "nazis shouldnt be punished". She specifically picks on students that disagree with her and has gossiped about them. She cuts people off so she can "correct" them. She also grades based on who she likes.

The grading scheme is completely arbitrary. Information in class is factually wrong. The discussions are important. There is a ton of reading and the homework picks up around the second half of the semester. She is completely out of touch with reality. Would not recommend if you're not a soc major.

Denise is a very kind person and a wonderful and understanding professor. Her class was very interesting and I learned a lot during the semester. There was a lot of involvement with the texts and she does not spoon feed you what you need to know, you have to read the materials in order to get a good grade and participate in discussion.

I learned a lot in Scott's class. Sometimes she can come off a bit condescending but she has a solid base of knowledge and cares about the topic. Lectures are intense (a LOT of writing, so don't skip) but her tests aren't too bad (the study guide is literally the test). She also has you write journal entries every week which are a grade booster.

She is set in her ways on how she thinks BUT if you just look past that and realize that is how some people are you will learn a lot and you will do well. Her study guides are literally her test questions. She lets you pick 3/4 questions, giving you space to show off what you know. Honestly, if you don't do well in her class then thats on you.

Dr. Scott's class is one of the best I've taken so far. There is a lot of reading but Scott selects them really well and you actually learn so much. Only a couple of tests and the study guides are very clear and great tools to do well. This is a very manageable course if you stay on top of everything and Scott is an excellent professor.
