I'm sure he's great in person but online was just not good. His lectures looked as if he was recording with a potato. His answer keys he sent out were blurry as well, couldn't read them and when students complained, he didn't even send out a better one. Hopefully he can go back to teaching in person soon..

Prof. Marengo has failed to transition to online learning. The audio/video often cut out, the doc scanner he uses makes his handwriting illegible, & there is NO POSTED CONTENT in mycourses. 95% of the grade is quizzes/exams. You'll be self-teaching the entire time, there's no point to showing up to class. Every other prof I had adjusted fine.

I enjoyed taking Prob & Stats with Dr. Marengo this fall. The class challenged me for a level 200, but he understood that and graded exams/quizzes leniently. He also replaced the lowest exam with the final, which boosted me from a B to an A! The only way to really fail is by doing nothing. Pay attention in class, do the optional HW and youre good.

Great professor for Mathematical Statistics I. I'm looking to take II with him as well (since he's the only prof to teach it). Go to class, read the textbook, attempt the homework. He'll give you full credit (even if the answers are incorrect or incomplete) if you put effort into it. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Don't do it. He will pass you some how but if you want a decent grade in his class don't take this. Go anywhere else. I found calculus 1 and 2 to be easier than this class and more fair. This class was harder than University Physics 1.

Class was very tough but lectures were very interesting. His tests were very tough but grade seemed to be on effort shown not on grade on tests. Don't receive homework back after turning it in. Great professor, just expect class to be difficult.

Fantastic class. He really cares that you learn the material; always doing stuff to bump peoples grades up so that they weren't so focused on them. Goes slowly and in depth to make sure you actually understand things, rather than just regurgitating formulas. Also, he may be going completely insane (but in a good way)!

His lectures are very clear and he generally has good charisma, which makes lectures not boring. The only complaint I could possibly bring up is that sometimes he's a bit quiet, which is a bit of an issue if you're in the back of the room. Otherwise, the class was great. Homework is optional too, but helpful.

"I have spoken for 42 minutes and have told you nothing relating to today's lesson" is an actual quote from a Tuesday lecture. He decided to then quiz us that Thursday. He instructs us to memorize things only for them to not appear on quizzes. Personally I do not know how I should prep for my next exam. Textbook is a must, you gotta teach yourself

Dr. Marengo is an incredibly nice professor. He's very understanding towards his students and gave 2 weeks for each take home exam. Homework was worth the most points, and he offered a HW help session each weekend where he would go over the HW solutions before the HW was due. He really loves math and statistics, which made the class very enjoyable

Very good professor, goes over the material well, does a lot of examples on the board and goes over the solutions in detail. Homework is not collected and he's a very fair grader. He gives quite a bit of partial credit. He gave my class 2 tests instead of 3 like most calc professors.

Great professor! He knows the material in great depth and is willing to explain it to you. He does get really close if you don't speak loud enough so really project your questions. Funny enthusiastic and clear professor. He is slow so bring the text and stay ahead if you tend to get bored the tests are hard.

Nicest and most helpful teacher I had at RIT so far. He is more then willing to help you if you don't understand. He's definitely not the easiest teacher but it's not hard to pass his class at all. DEFINITELY recommend him. He's my favorite teacher. He LOVES classic rock and loves to talk about music if you want to get on his good side!

Teaches laboriously slowly. Assigns brutal homework problems. Elaborate test questions involving several weeks of content. This guy was born to be an Honors professor. You will learn, oh, you WILL learn. I think everyone got Cs or lower on every homework and every test, but I had a B, and others got As. Honors classes are so weird.

Teaches at a very slow pace. He's very approachable and helpful but the material is presented slowly and carefully. Some classes we barely made it through 2 examples in an hour. This can be a blessing or a curse. It's all about your style.

Dr. Marengo is an excellent teacher. He goes slowly, but you learn the background of everything. He is great at breaking problems down and explaining each step, how to do it, and why you can. You will learn the subject inside and out. He has a hearing problem, especially with women's voices, so don't be offended if he doesn't understand you!

I had Engineering Mathematics with Professor Marengo for the 20094 quarter. I found him to be a very good professor. I loved to explain the topics beyond what the book cover. He often repeated himself, to make sure you got the point. He was very interested in getting the students to succeed. No attendance, homework not graded (bad for me).

Sometimes the material was dry but he did his best to keep it interesting. Didn't take attendance, didn't collect homework. Tests and quizzes were fair and enough time was given. Is very helpful during office hours if you need them.
