Worst professor Ive had at CMU. I took the online summer class and he gives absolutely NO feedback or communication during the semester. The class is very self-paced and relies on Cengage for homework and quizzes. Avoid this one, especially if you tend to procrastinate.

I took an online class, so I can't account for how his in person classes took, but I was very satisfied with this class. He offered a large variety of scores that makes it really easy to pass the class even if you don't test well, like me. He was also one of the only online professors I have that had recorded lectures you could watch.

Comment:
Terrible professor. Doesn't know how to teach. He thinks showing off knowledge is teaching. Deliberately makes things harder than they are and denigrates students to make himself feel superior. Worst professor ever.

This guy grades the portfolio ridiculously hard. Don't call something "short answer" if you want an essay answer. No feedback during term at all. Not even a "het it's the end of the term" email. Useless class

He can be a good researcher, he can be good with numbers, he can be very knowledgeable in this field, but all of this means nothing when you consider how he's not a nice person. He will yell at his students and insult them throughout the class and act as if he's God. I'd rather have a down-to-earth professor with a nice personality.

This class was the hardest Psychology class I have taken. 400 levels are not even this hard. He is very interested in the subject but not very helpful to students. He curves the exams but people still averaged getting a C or lower. Oh and you have "pop quizzes" almost every week. Text book is a must.

This is the most difficult 300 level class I have ever taken. I got a B in the class for an outstanding portfolio. Self-paced, and not recommended for procrastinators. Over 100+ "short" answer chapter questions. Exceptionally difficult multiple choice questions that are full of jargon. I don't recommend this even if you are a psych major.

Comment:
Highly knowledgeable and an excellent researcher. This man is great at what he does, though he can struggle to relate that knowledge in a comprehensible fashion to his students which renders him a rather mediocre teacher, particularly when paired with the offhanded insults and offensive commentary made in class.

Do not take this class! This teacher is terrible. He is arrogant and not thorough at all. His class is interesting, but he makes this class difficult by not offering any help or giving any feedback.

This class is very time consuming. Expect a quiz every week, three papers, and pretty difficult exams. I took it as a fun class and it has been my hardest. Make sure that you have time to devote to this class. Overall, it was a good class. Professor Christiansen expects a lot from his students throughout the semester, but this is college isn't it?

Professor Christiansen is not very clear with what he expects from his students. No matter how hard I tried, it seemed as if I could never get ahead in the class. A quiz is given every day a new chapter is discussed. His tests are super hard. Gives out essay questions in advance. He expects a lot. Use time wisely. Please do not take this teacher!

Really enjoyed this class; thought I wouldn't due to the content and stories I heard prior to coming in, but it turned out great. It's definitely TONS of work, but as long as you aren't lazy and/or dumb you will be fine. I've heard some people don't like the prof's sarcastic style but it is right up my alley. Favorite class of the semester.
