Jim Fatka, He is probably one of the least respected teachers that I have came across here at MCC. I have emailed him multiple times with questions, never emails back. Doesn't care if you" get it or not" . He is a very tough grader , you can thing right that he wants but it won't reflect your score . Never puts grades in . Use another teacher

Overall great professor. His class is a little boring, but I don't think that is really his fault. Takes a lot of time giving students feedback, even on papers that are not graded. Easy to talk to, willing to fix a problem, and is able to admit to a mistake! The only thing I didn't like is that there is so much homework, but so little is graded.

Mr. Fatka is the most amazing teacher at MCC. He takes the time to carefully grade every little bit of information in your papers and his lectures are very informative. If you would like to learn a thing or two and have great feedback on how to improve your English and Communicative skills, take his class! Mr. Fatka is extremely intelligent!

He is the worst English professor I have ever had. I am usually very good at English and get a minimum of a B will little effort, but even working my butt off all semester I had to drop the class. He was unwilling to help me and asked, and was very rude when signing the withdrawal form. Probably have of the class dropped.

Go to class, do your work, don't expect to be handed a good grade, and you'll do well. Remember to ask questions after speeches! You'll want those points.

Best teacher I ever had. Taught me to think critically. Had confidence in all papers I wrote after taking his class. Those who didn't like him didn't like to do the work. He works harder than the students. Amazing and smart. Listens to everyone. Is very fair and requires opinions to be backed up with facts. Learned the most from this teacher.

I liked his approach. He may be slightly demanding but nothing crazy. He knows what he can expect from college students, so he expects that! This was the only class I had with him, but am signing up for another!

I don't remember the section but I took the first part of his American Lit. class and I loved it. A lot of people said not to disagree with him but I beg to differ. I did well in his class and we have very different views. He loves you if you keep an open mind, speak up, and get involved. He was one of my favorite teachers at MCC!

Before taking Jim's class I asked others about him and recieved mixed opinions. "He's very liberal." "Speak up in his class." "Don't write about abortion." These and a few other tips helped me servive his class. Remember: read the textbook, ask questions, before a test read over the textbook and take notes, respect Jim and he'll respect you. He see

Biased and closed-minded; will chew you out if you disagree with or challenge his opinions. Otherwise a good lecturer...be warned: he randomly asks questions of students. Interesting character.

Jim Fatka plays favorites. Disagree with him and your grades will show it. I am an A student, I got a C+ in Jim's class. He would constantly mark me down for trivial things. Horrible teacher.

I earned an A in Jim's Speech Class by doing these things: Don't argue with him! Don't be late. Don't miss class. Read the textbook. Take notes on what he talks about. Study your homework and notes in depth before tests. PRACTICE YOUR SPEECHES! Use GOOD supporting materials. If you try to BS your way, your grade will show it. TOUGH CLASS to get A.

Comment:
Attended his class in 1989. Apparently little has changed. I received an A, but only after an unfounded accusation of plagiarism (couldn't name a source, just SOUNDED like plagiarism). As a teacher and college instructor myself, Fatka remains the gold standard of what I don't want to be.
